GTX 260 PPD acting odd?

While I had the wrong drivers, it was at 2.8-3k PPD and now since that I've gotten the right drivers in it's back to about 6k PPD. I left for work and I just went back to turn on my server on and noticed that it was back to about 2k PPD.

Any idea why?

Are you also running SMP ?

Nope, just the GPU2 Client at this time... All I did was turn off my monitor, I doubt this will be the sole cause. I'm back at work right now playing on my server... -_- But I'll check on this when I get back home in about 5 hours.

That's just strange. XP or Vista? I have my 260 on a Q6600@3.2 with 2x SMPs 64 bit vista. It is clocked 602 core/1455 shader/999 mem. I tried going up to about 1550 for the shaders but it refused and reset the shaders to ~600 to teach me a lesson I guess. I'm pulling in about 6200-6500 ppd on the 260 and another ~3000 for the combined SMPs more or less depending on how much I'm using the boxen....and yes I am still using affinity changer. The production out of the 260 is stable like a rock. My OC is still low, that 260 has more to give.
The only time I have seen that kind of behavior is in XP (with an 8800GT) when the gpu client is starved for cpu cycles which isn't you situation since your not running the SMPs.

Alright, I'm back home from work...

It's now showing PPD of 2k... :( Something isn't right at all.

Specs:
C2Q 6600 (Stock)
4x2gig ram - 8GB total
EVGA 260 OC (Stock)
Vista 64 Business

Is there anything I should do to the client itself?

EDIT: In the Advanced section of the configuration itself, I see that I have the 'Disable highly optimized assembly code' checkbox checked. I am not sure if this suppose to be checked or not. Please HALP! I need my folding points :(

Rebooted and changed the disbale highly etc crap to unchecked... I've not open the viewer and it seems to be chugging along as it should be at this time.

I think it's the viewer that's causing the issue... I dunno so I ain't touching it.

I also have bumped the shaders to 1400Mhz, will be trying to get it up higher... It's currently at 58c and that's with the fan at 100%

Feedbacks? Oh yeah, the PPD seems to be at 6200 now.

Correct, don't mess with the viewer, it's buggy...

Alright, it seems to not be helping at all. I've not touched the viewer at all ever since and yet it went back to 2k PPD. Why? I am using the FAHMon already.

I am also looking at eVGA Precision tool, it shows that my shaders and core has dropped to half of what it's suppose to be. Is there something I can do about this?

Have the EVGA Precision 1.2.0 ? If not, get it from the EVGA CD.

I have it, I'm using that exact version. What's odd is that no matter what I do with it the clocks would not change. I was wonder what happened when I slept... And I should note, this clock speeds it's at right now is the exact same... Its now doing 2k PPD but I don't see why it has gone down and flipped me a finger on the way down.

EDIT: What are your GPU2 Client configuration?

I have big WUs enabled under the connection section, currently I've all of the checkboxes in the Advanced section unchecked. Let me know if there is anything that should be checked and turned on.

Try to check the case to not lock affinity to a single core and see.

If your shaders have dropped to half their original value I think that means your over clock has failed. Sorry. I tried to set my shaders on the GTX260 to something like 1550 or so (had been running fine at 1450 and I was greedy) it ran ok for a few frames and then the screen flickered twice for just a fraction of a second. Everything seemed ok after that but EVGA tool indicated that the shaders were now at 600. Yes nothing I could do would change it except powering down and rebooting. Then it came back up to normal. I've had the card running about 2 days now at 1455 for shaders and haven't had any problems. If you look at the [H] review of the card that was about all they could get out of the shaders as well (although they clocked up the core and memory quite a bit).

Try running at stock (god forbid) or possibly just at 1300 for your shaders just to make sure it runs ok for a while.

Yeah, must have been the SHader's OC... I rebooted and it's chugging along fine at stock.
