I am in the market for a new video card due to the fact that I will have 2 22" wide screen monitors. I do not believe, on account of my current fps sometimes, that my single 512mb 8800gts will be sufficient. So first question, do you think that having duel monitor setup will hinder my card as much as I believe?

I have been browsing around and found a 280 for roughly $250 which seems to be a good deal, however when I keep looking, I see 275's going for $300+ for some. So my next question, is the 275 better than the 280? And if so, how much better? And will one 280/275 be enough of a card to run 2 wide screens at relatively high fps (at least >70)?

If you were to rank the GTX 200's from greatest performance to least, what order would they be in?

Using the second monitor really won't impact FPS much as it is only rendering the game on 1 screen.

The 280 is faster than the 275. I'm assuming your 22" is 1680x1050? If so then the 260 may also be a good option for you unless you're rocking crysis on high settings. It'll save you a few bucks.
 
Wow, thank you for the fast responce, I have, at the moment, one more question that I have asked a few people, but have never gotten a straight answer.

Could I have 2 different video cards like if I got a 260, could I use that for my main monitor and use the 8800gts for the second monitor?
 
only a few "select" games support multi-monitor setups for gaming, supreme commander etc. if you want to game on multiple monitors, you would need something like Matrox TH2G or a new ATI 5000 series card
 
Yes, but it doesnt make a lot of sense to do that. Adding a second monitor doesnt really impact performance by much (if any at all).

You could, however, use that 8800 for a dedicated physx processor and hook the second monitor up to it (for the hell of it), and then use the 260/275/280 purely for graphics.
 
So I would plug the second into the on purely for physx? I thought if you have a physx card, you cant plug a monitor in to it. And how would I go about dedicating it to physx?
 
I'm not 100% sure, but AFAIK, you can plug the the monitor into it just fine. Or I don't see why you couldn't at least.

You can dedicate the 8800 to physx through the nvidia control panel.

The GTX275 and GTX280 are nearly identical performers in game benchmarks its like 3% diff at stock. The 280 is older 65nm with the 55nm 275 basically replaced it, however the 280 has a little more ram. The 275 prob a little more head room for overclocking.

id probably save the $50 and grab a 280 myself and buy beer or something :p . Even at 1920x1080 and high IQ my 275 averages 60FPS+ in most games, just the one "Crysis" is iffy in spots, but really who cares anymore. I can't justify buying a 5000 series yet, although they are great cards.
