Been milking this card for awhile now but it's dead. Looking to keep it around $150. Mainly used for video editing and some gaming (1920x1280). It will be running with a i3-4170. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

My vote goes to the R9 280, especially if you can fit in an over clock, those 7950's used to over clock to almost 7970 performance

280 has the nod so far, been quite awhile since I had an AMD card, became an nvidia fan boy, but older and wiser now so more than willing to switch for a better deal

When you edit videos, does your program use the video card to assist and make it quicker? I think some of the newer Adobe solutions allow for this. If so you may want to see if the newer Tonga cards(285 / 380 and Fury series) from AMD and the newer 900 series from Nvidia are better solutions as they have more robust tech for dealing with it. The 280 series should accelerate it also, but the tech is a few generations older than the 285.

If you're just using the CPU for editing then there wouldn't be a difference and my nod would go towards the 280 also as it should be faster than the 285. It is surely faster than the 900 series in the $150 or less range.

There's a low wattage GTX 750Ti on EVGA B-stock for $109. In case OP's computer has a humble psu.

The 950 SSC is just about even with the 760, so the slightly slower SC model might actually be a tad behind the 760.

Also [H]ard did a review on that particular XFX 280, and in most games it actually beat out the 285. If you look at that TPU link I posted, the 285 is 11% faster than the SSC model, an already highly factory overclocked card. OC to OC I expect that particular 280 to be anywhere from 15-20% faster than a 950.

Power supply is not an issue r9 still leading but thanks for all the suggestions. will get something before midnight

While the 280 might lead in performance in AMD optimized situations, the 960 is very efficient in comparison. I've been super happy with mine for the last 9 months.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather have 25% more compute power for an extra $40 over the 950.

If you are willing to go used theres some good prices out there. R9 290's are going for $150-175 sometimes (reference cards) Thats a lot of power for that cost.
