Is a PurePower 500 PSU enough?

Figured you guys would be the ones to ask..... I just stumbled upon one and that's all I have laying around to power it...

XFX recommends a 650, but nvidia says a 450 will do. What do you think??

Thanks guys!!

Rest of the system?

The Purepowers are shitty, but it's probably still good enough as long as you aren't running anything too crazy along with it.

I was running a GTX260 on a single Antec Earthwatts 500 with minimal hardware, so the PP500 would probably pull it off. In fact, as far as power usage goes I've got three GTX260's running on a BadAxe2 and it draws between 450 and 530 watts for all three. I'm using a 750 to power all three, but actually ran two of those cards on a 550 with minimal problems. About every two weeks or so, it would draw a bit too much and power down, must've been the combo of WU's that it pulled or something.

BUT - back on topic, I think you'll be okay with what you've got...give it a shot and check your power draw with a kill-a-watt device.

I have the BFG GTS250 1gb in my HTPC folding 24/7
It has a Gigabyte 780g mobo, AMD 4050e, 2gb ram, and im only using a Antec 430w to power it all.

Its not even trying hard.

Are you saying in a round about way that you're about to make another run at me? First you casually mention you're coming up on 2 million, then this... :D

Um.. no. Not at all. Really. I'm not.

And if that seemed to be implied, I'm sorry, it was never my intention to do so.

It's just that my wife found this thing in our mailbox today, I have no idea where it came form, but since I have it now, I just thought it might be fun to stuff it in an old board I have laying around. All I have to power it up is this shitty PSU... so you know, I thought I should ask. See if maybe see if I could play some games on it or something...

You know, cause.. since I'm such a big gamer and all;)

Guess we'll give it a go and see what happens... games anyhow, maybe a little RuneScape or something:D

Beers and tamales.....

Wow, you're a subtle one aren't you :D.

Digi..... you the man.

PSU should be fine. The PSU is a mid range one... they come up with those wattage numbers for the lowest common denominator (dell psus for example).
