Gromets? Cutting Advice?

So I am decided on cutting some holes in my case for tubing...

This is how my case is now.

And this is how I am going to do it.

The radiator will be mounted an inch or two off of the case, and just the tubing will have holes, I don't want the warm air rising through my radiator.

Now.. I can't find any places locally that sell Gromets that are 1/2" ID, only 1/2" OD... which are quite small ID. Anyone know of a local place in Hamilton that sells 1/2" ID Gromets?

And also... I want some advice on drilling holes for the tubing. I have a 3/4" Holesaw (Smallest one in the kit).

Also, what do you people think about my change of plan?

How do you like my T-Line, it was only $2 and it's made out of copper pipe :)
 
Personally I dont like mounting Radiators externally. IMO it ruins the looks of the case and is way too bulky.Well, if I was I were you, I'd mount the double 120mm Radiator inside the case right below the top panel (half of it in the 5.25" bays) or mount it in the inside where the dual 80mm intakes are (take out HDD cages and relocate HDD's to the 5.25" bays.

Still bulky?

It won't look bulky, and I refuse to mount a radiator in a warm case, inside of the case will always be warmer. Plus I would have to get a hole saw large enough to cut holes for fans if I mounted it inside, which is expensive, and I don't have money for that.
 
well, in that perspective you cant see the radiator, but yes, IMO its still bulky (in the back). when you move it uptop, itll be even more noticeable. dont think too much of my or other peoples opinions though, in the end its what your most happiest with. :)

if you want to find it locally, ive seen 1/2" grommets at Home Depot and Fry's Electronics.

Hamilton is in Ontario, which is in Canada, no Fry's.

Home Depot was closed today and Home Hardware were asses and had 1/2" OD Grommets.. which are too small.

I'm definetly not ordering them online, shipping costs too much for something that small, they should just have the option to put them in an envelope.

I usually don't listen to peoples opinions, but I think having the radiator visible makes it look more industrial, which is what look I'm going for, hence all the dark colours.
 
theres nothing wrong with mounting on the inside or outside, do whatever you think is best for your setup (i actually like mounting outside more). btw, cool desk!
 
on cutting your holes it depends on what the wall thickness of the tubing you are using. You should be fine with any 1/2" ID tubing though. I think a 3/4" holesaw would be just fine, that allows for you to have 1/8" wall thickness, just make sure to sand down the edge and possibly even put a rubber gromet in there, which is looks like you're already searching for. As long as you secure the rad I prefer an outside mounting as long as the setup is clean looking. Nice work on the T-line, it makes me rethink my own decision to buy a poly t line. did you fab that yourself or find it at a store? Also how does that bubble wrap do at insulating the sound? I'm looking for a way to quiet my pump and it's located in a similar spot as yours. the only think I have tried is some scrap rubber I had and I think it is too dense because it really didn't help much.

No they don't. I need 1/2" ID grommets. They have 1/2" OD...

As for the T-Line, no, I didn't make it, but I bought it at Canadian Tire for $2.50, it's perfect for 3/8" or 1/2" tubing.

I am fabricating brackets for my Radiator though, I just finished rounding off the corners, they are going to be S shape brackets holding the Radiator 2 1/8" off the top of the case.

And my tubing is 3/8" ID 1/2" OD.
