Here is yet another BitCoin upstart. I don't know much about the BitCoin biz, but since it also involves running BOINC, I figured I would post it in case any of our Team is interested. It may also encourage some of the BitCoiners that hang out in the forums to become Commandos. :D

I originally stumbled across the project from this post: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=8674#50947

I think the developer is a newb when it comes to his information on BOINC, but that isn't my problem to deal with. Anyways, if anyone else is currently running this and would like to add their opinion or expertise, feel free to join in. To be clear, the miner isn't running within BOINC like BitcoinUtopia or Donate@Home did. This is running two clients.

Unfortunately it doesn't have much value to us miners until it makes its way onto an exchange. It may be on smaller ones but I don't see GridCoin on cryptsy which is about as shady as I get for altcoins.

It's a cool idea to do something useful with all the crunching being done tho. [y]

EDIT: O it hasn't launched yet, that could explain why I can't find it on an exchange yet lol. Will be interesting to watch.

IMO, even when it makes it onto an exchange, it has to be somewhat worthwhile to mine. If it's not going to net you more than the cost of the power expended to mine it, then it sorta doesn't make sense to mine it. About the only reason someone would mine it at that point is to stockpile it hoping it becomes one of the next big things. But with every Joe and his dog making a new altcoin, I somehow doubt that every one of them is going to be profitable.
