Hi,

On my current dell 2007wfp IPS monitor, after trying to calibrate close enough to photochart photos , the shadows are still washed out. Can't see details in shadows. After reading reviews on prad & other sites, this is hard to get right on lcd's. But I wonder if pro-monitors, like the 2490 wuxi or eizo's can get this right?

Below depends on your usage.
Black level detail is often bad due to gamma calibration. You might be able to adjust it in some screens by using the brightness control (backlight control on some). For white levels, use contrast controls. Use some palett like this:

and a similar one for contrast control.
Don't touch settings in GFX drivers and especially don't touch your RGB sliders on the screen. In most cases, they will mess up your factory settings and can introduce banding and poor white point calibration.
Worst case, you can adjust gamma from 2.2 to 2.1 or lower. This will increase black level seperation, but make the picture brighter.

Hiya.

Thanks for your reply. Brightness did the trick. Though white looks very bright too, probably giving me headaches in a while. Thats why they probably invented dark themes though, I guess. My brightness is at 33 out of 100, does that sound alot?
