Hey guys I am trying to fix the black levels on my video card, i am using a ati 3400 that is built in to a gigabyte mobo, and I am using hdmi.
The programs I am using are mediaportal, catalyst control center, coreavc, ac3audio and couple other things.
So how can I fix the black levels,
I heard that a dvi to hdmi adapter would work, I am currently using optical out as my amp does not have hdmi ins on it.

First guess is your color space is being clipped by the video card compared to what hte TV accepts (I assuming you have a TV since you didn't indicate that). For monitors, it is 0 to 255, or TV's it can be 0 to 255 and 16 to 235. If it is set for 16 to 235...set it for 0 to 255. Other than that, an "adapater" won't help. they are passive devices that pretty much just move wires around.

Well I am using a front projector, the optoma hd66, I use to have a popcorn hour and there were the setting 16-235 and 0-255, with the 0-255 the picture looked great, but now I got a htpc the color looks greyish as if it was 16-235. I know the dvi out output 0-255 so thats why i was thinking it might work.

I cant find an option on the ccc to set it to 0-255 or is there an other option i have to look at.

What is your Pixel Format set to in CCC and do you have dynamic contrast enabled?

For my G73 connected to my plasma

Pixel Format : RGB 4:4:4 Pixel Format PC Standard
Dynamic Contrast: Disabled

i dont have a pixel format in my ccc I am using the latest drivers i think 10.5

I have 10.4 IIRC and it was definitely there. Ill take a look after work I dont see any reason why It shouldnt be there

HDMI has nothing to do with color level. The signals are all electrically identical to DVI signals.

It's gotta be in your display/projector.

He was using popcorn hour with the same projector based on his post. He stated it was fine. It's just a configuration issue on the new HTPC
