Green in my LOOP!?

Have had my loop together for 2 weeks, yes 2 WEEKS!! And the tubes are now tinted green. I used pure distilled with an all copper loop and 1 drop of PTNuke per 2 cups of water (around 4.2 cups is a liter if I'm not mistaken). Before setup flushed the system about 10 times, 3 times with boiling distilled and rest with room temp distilled. WTF did I do wrong? I can post pics if requested, just ask.
 
Algae or copper oxidation would be my guess.
I'm not sure what the best solution (pun not intended) would be.
If you don't mind green, put in some Swiftech Hydrx; that will kill the Algae and remain a nice brilliant green.
 
What Kind of tubing are you using?
Stuff from home depot? Because the cheep tubing will do that, happened to me, and now I just do Tygon R-3603 and never had a problem

The loop consists of an MCP655 pump > Thermochill 120.3 rad > D-tek with quad nozzle and washer installed > MCW30 chipset > T line > back to pump

Here is a pic of the loop, you can kind of see the green in this pic but i think some of it comes from the videocard (7800gtx until my 9800gx2 gets here in the next few days), green connecters on the mobo and green sata cables (damn you DFI and all your colors!)

It is kinda hard to photograph, but there is a slight green tint to all my tubes. Let me know what you guys think.
 
1. Make sure it's not the green reflection off your board that's causing the 'green' look
2. Drain the system and make sure your radiator is completely flushed out. If you didn't do this when you first got that 120.3 then more than likely you are getting some flux residue.
 
Ok seriously that does not look green at all, I was expecting worse when I got to the pics. Are you 100% certain its not just you thinking its green or reflected light turning it green? Anyway presuming it actually is green, its algae or copper in the lines.

Just tint the water green anyway, it would look good with your setup :)
 
Like I said it is hard to photograph because it is a tinted color, I will let it go a few more weeks and see what happens. It has been getting worse at first I noticed it and thought it was just the normal clouding cause it was a really light green, but it is getting greener as time passes. I'll update this thread if I can get a good photograph of its progression from now over the next week or so. My first build without anti-freeze mixture (like 8 builds) and this shit happens... lol
 
Swimming pool experience says algae.
I'd drain the system and flush it out. Use bleach to treat everything that can handle it.
I'm not sure what a bleach solution would do to plastic tubing and copper......there may be something safer to kill the algae and spare the sensitive hardware.
 
I've ran bleach through my system many times and it's fine. I'd recommend it, does a good job at cleaning and killing.

Always use an anti algae additive with your setup, and a healthy amount too. I use Water Wetter, even though nubs join the anti WW parade, and never had any problems. Infact I recently ran out of the stuff and currently have an almost all de-ionised water setup (had a lsmall amount of WW to put in there) and my water has never been so murky after a few months now.
 
I dunno why you guys bother with these additives on a pure distilled loop.

With a few drops of anti-algae from the pet store and pure distilled, I've had a crystal clear setup now for a long time. Don't need any special type of liquids, cleaning agents and/or techniques.

Sounds like a good tip, might pickup something like this myself next time I'm in town. Bet that stuff would be pretty cheap then yeah?
 
I have noticed great results by just dumping a cap and a half of Clorox bleach into my system every time I flush it. It's basically chlorine and kills all the algae.

Tastes like ass whenever i have to siphon the system though :p

Edit: And I only use tap water.... 3.1L of it ;) :D
