Maybe it was too good to be true. The 27-inch iMac model sporting the spectacular screen is being delayed due to display issues, according to ComputerWorld. Resellers say that screens that are flickering, yellow-tinted, or broken-in-shipment are forcing Apple to delay further shipments by 2 weeks to replace video cards.
Lies! All lies!!! Macs just work. The resellers and retailers are to blame. LOL. I wonder why there is a lack of Mac Vs PC commercials right now. Maybe the writers ran out of material to promote in favor of Mac. Maybe they should jump ship and make and offer to MS on material they could do in favor of PC.
Why the allegation against ATI? It affects the cheaper models with Geforce as well. Sure, only 10%, but it's still 10%. Seems like the author has no basis for that insinuation. Just because they had a problem in the past doesn't mean ATI is the cause again.
Actually I'd bet this is the infamous LG (IPS) quality control shining through, yet again. Still think Dell would do well to introduce a monitor based on the screen, but this would be the same old LG story, over and over again.
Tell me I'm not the only one who finds this funny... I own 2 iPhones and have owned macs in the past, but this is amusing to me. Over the last few years it seems that Apple has positioned its self to be a company that doesn't release defective products. Hence why all of the "PC" bashing in their commercials. It's nice to see them take a taste of their own medicine. I know I'd be pissed if I just spent 2k on an iMac and got it home and it didn't just work.
The 27" i7 860 iMac I received on Thursday works perfectly, knock on wood. I wonder what percentage of them had to be recalled due to display defects.
I think what I've learned to do with any apple product is wait at least 2-3 months after it is first introduced because there are always problems with a good portion of them.
But then you'd be too close to the time when the "next generation" macs are released with revolutionary new features, meaning you have to throw away your old mac and buy a new one
The screen resolution puts a strain on the GPU and creates more heat in a small form factor. Problems were bound to happen, not saying this was the cause but it could have been a contributing factor.
Weren't those 30" displays separate from the computer though? I think this is the first time they've tried to make an all-in-one with a display THIS large!
Yes. The prior 24" displays were 1920x1200 H-IPS. This is a 27" 2560x1440 IPS, the biggest in an iMac so far. Pixel size is much smaller too. I have an NEC 24" running as the primary display for my PC and secondary display for my iMac, and windows and text size is significantly different with the 27". It actually has me thinking of getting one of the upcoming NEC 27" or 30" PA series displays to replace my current 24" with. That 24" NEC is one of the best displays on the market but the new 27" has truly spoiled me, I was NOT expecting that to happen. My wallet is crying for mercy, not just for the display but for the video card upgrade I'll need to run games at the same FPS I'm getting now at 1920x1200.
