Alright, I've been having troubles with graphics card in my Motherboard. Let me explain a bit. I bought a e-geforce 8400 gs. I play old games, nothing to knew so i was fine with that purchase. Anywho, It is a pci-e x 16 xard, so i put it in the slot. I made sure to change the slot in the bios to pci-e x 16. I then changed the cable to that and started it up, however the monitor does not detect the card at all. I get a black screen saying nothing is connected. I go into device manager and still nothing.

This is my pc.

After talking with tec support, I purchased a 600 watt power supply. Still the same problem. After months i just stuck with my integrated 6150 se nforce 430. However, now i wish to order parts to build a new pc.

So my question is, was it the graphics card that was the problem or my mother board?

Did you disable onboard video? Some of those BIOS' have the ability to edit the PCI slot and still keep your onboard video enabled, which is pretty stupid.

You didn't mention what driver you're using for the card.

Also, if you're not getting a display, how'd you get into device manager? Can you get into safe mode and do it from there?

Without having tried a different video card it would be hard to tell. It could be the card or a bad PCI-e slot.

Yeah i looked at the bios. I used the latest nvida driver for the card, and at one point i tried to install the drivers for the new card before. I got display by switching back to my integrated. and i had another graphics card before, that gave me the same issue.

It could be the video card problem. I would suggest you to try out different laptop video card but take care it should be genuine.
