Graphical artifacts in BC2

I tend to see a lot of flashing textures and strange blinking dust clouds in the background during BC2. It mostly happens when I'm dead and looking at the squad/equipment menu, but it does occur during normal gameplay too sometimes.

I tried downclocking my card to 700/1100 but it had no effect whatsoever. I don't have any artifacting whatsoever in any other games. Furmark runs fine and caps off at 82C.

Is it just the game or is some weakness showing? I'd hate to have to send this thing back.

I'm using 10.3b right now and I used Driver Sweeper. :(

Looking like a bad card? I'm still puzzled at how every other game runs perfectly fine and how downclocking doesn't do anything.

I honestly believe it's the game. I do not exhibit any of these artifacts personally, but it could be due to overclocking or very aggressive memory timing. I would probably put everything at default CPU/Memory speed and try to see if that resolves the issue. Maybe a BIOS update for your motherboard/video card?

I just find it very odd that every game you throw at it runs fine except BFBC2. If you can't resolve the issue, you could ask one of your friends to see if you can put your video card in his PC to see if he exhibits the same results. If so, then I would probably get a RMA. Problems like these start very minor and become major overtime and your warranty might be expired if you don't react fast enough.

Yeah, 99% of the time my game runs perfectly fine without a single problem (using 10.3 drivers). But every once in awhile, I seem to connect to a server that doesn't like something in my configuration and I just the strange flashing textures. My smoke is fine, I get flashy scopes and ground textures. This issue never follows me to another server if I leave.

I experience the occasional flickering even after loading the 10.3b drivers but it is world's better than what I was experiencing. Before these drivers I had tons of issues with flickering water and glass.

Do any of you simply get a gray screen when you join a server and see the squad/equipment info? It isn't a GSOD since the menu shows up fine and entering the battle clears it right up. This only happens on the first server I join. When I join any server I can never see the server info either. (ex punkbuster on/off info)

The screwed up ground textures seem to usually occur when I'm in a vehicle.

On some desert maps I will see a huge flashing dust cloud in the background as well.

My RAM is stock but I guess I could try loosening the timings and see what that does, but it seems that would be a remedy for a general instability problem. Usually this stuff is related to the VRAM, but underclocking it is not working. :(

None of this ever happened in the beta.

EDIT: I tried running Crysis Wars for a while and there was zero artifacting.

I just thought I would bump this because I discovered for a fact that it is not my specific 5870 that is the issue. I got a new laptop and the same exact issues occur. It may be an ATi issue since the chip is a 5730, but now I know my 5870 hasn't gone bad.

Just a heads up for anyone seeing the type of graphical artifacting that I am seeing.

Grey screen background choosing a class and all that = killcam disabled server, which something something about that camera you're meant to get looking at your spawn spot.

Yes I get the odd artifacts too, but only in certain servers. Rocks appearing on the ground etc...and the water flashing on the snow levels is a nightmare TBH.

But not all the time....running the default 10.3 drivers....will try the 10,3b when I get home ;)

yes, the gray screen thing is normal.
i get it on my gtx 260

I tried the 10.3b with my 5970 and flickering/texture corruption in BC2 is still present to some degree, this is a bug with the game/drivers and not hardware related.

This is in DX9 mode though which I have forced, I can't speak for DX11 which is what a 5xxx card should be running BC2 in by default.

I'm running the game on a 5970 myself in DX11 mode. So far I'm not encountering graphical glitching at all anymore. I had to upgrade to the 10.3b drivers then install the Crossfire profile update.

I used to run in dx9 with 10.3b, got the flickers. I moved to dx11 due to my card not really taking a performance hit and I havent seen a single graphical anomaly since. My games load a bit slower, but with full anti ailiasing I tend not to shoot at phantom players that were actually jaggies.

I'm not happy about the slow load times, but that's OK. I rack up enough kills to make up for it. Actually in some ways it works nicely. I know where the recon guys on the other side like to hang out so I just go to where they are and take care of them.

That being said, I need Eyefinity for this game. I'm sick of getting popped in the side because I was doing something and didn't see the bad guys.
