Gran Turismo

I just hope GT5 doesn't change the number of cars on the track. I am still banging my head against the wall trying to figure out why we only get 4 cars on the track in GT5 PSP. I will still buy it, but DANG :(

Seriously ? That's offline and MP ?

I haven't been following it that closely, but only 4 cars is terrible. :(

I guess they traded off better graphics for less cars.

Maybe. Then again. I might be expecting too much from handhelds. I really don't know what they are capable of. I have a PSP 3000, so I am not sure if that has more power than say, the PSP 1000 or 2000. Just never followed that closely.

It appears that the AI car count is 3 cars on track. Counting you, there would be 4 cars in the race. Wouldn’t it have been better to drop the framerate of the game from 60 to 30 and increased the car count? – grashopper
We went through many experiments but came to the conclusion that having three opponents gives you the best portable racing experience while maintaining the Gran Turismo level of quality.

Are you really trying to agree with Technoob and whatever PR dude from Turn 10 that said at E3 Forza 3 had the best graphics of any racer this generation ?
Or did he mean for a month or two before GT5 releases ? :)

Since I've said over and over, including in this thread, that I think GT will be the best racing game ever released, I'm not sure why you keep attributing me to PR for anything. Laughable coming from you as well.

Me calling you out on your bullshit does not equal gt sucking, sorry.

show a bit of respect to others here:rolleyes:

Would have been nice to hit a new page without this continuing. :(

For a while I thought we'd managed it.

I think they are pretty much the same powerwise, just the later the model the smaller it gets.

Some people want to have discussions, some people want to sling around garbage and big up their favorite series. I think it's pretty clear which is which in this thread. I am simply responding to the idea that I've said anything negative about GT5. And you're really going to talk about respecting others? Pots and kettles friend, big ones.

I don't.
They should release it in early Decemeber at the latest.

4 days after Christmas is retarded. I doubt that's the real date. :)

I doubt it would make any difference whatsoever. It's not the sort of game that needs releasing at a specific time of year.

The game will sell like gangbusters no matter, but you're wrong if you don't think marketing people pick a specific day for a reason. They're not throwing darts.

The week of Black Friday would be ideal.

They're not going to release it 4 days later, when people are opening PS3s on Christmas day. Unless it's some subversive plot to sell copies of Uncharted 2.

I'm not talking about that specific date though, more about a more general time of year. GT sales aren't particularly front loaded anyway.

Would be quite funny, but to be honest I reckon it wont happen before November as they'll want to give GT PSP some time in the sun.

GT PSP will sell regardless. it wont hamper their sales as its targeted in a completely different platform type ie handhelds

I think you'd be surprised. I know plenty of people considering GT PSP simply because they don't know when GT5 is coming.

Someone over at NeoGAF translated this interview, the bits related to GT5 I've included here:

Will GT PSP interact with GT5 on PS3?

We're treating GT PSP as sort of an invitation to the world of Gran Turismo. GT PSP will help new players get acquainted to the series and therefore GT5. If you have a car in GT PSP, then it will be unlocked in GT5.

Did the development of GT PSP affect GT5's in any way?

I can't deny this fact. If a person is working on one thing, she cannot be working on something else at the same time. All Gran Turismo games are made at Polyphony Digital, so manpower had to be shifted from one project to the other.

Finally, about GT5, how would you summarize this new chapter in the series?

About GT5, specifications are not finalized, we can release it anytime now, but we can also spend an infinite amount of time polishing things. That's the current situation. We'll release it when we're totally happy with the result. And there's so much in GT5 that it would be impossible to fully describe it using just a summary.

I thought this bit was interesting "If you have a car in GT PSP, then it will be unlocked in GT5."

Could possibly mean that all the GT PSP cars will be in GT5?

Yeah, this bit of translated speculation was released a couple of days ago over at GTPlanet.net.

If true, that's 800+ cars right there, just based on the GTPSP count.

My PSP purchase earlier this past spring seems less and less frivilous each passing day.

Yeah... still not buying a PSP. :p

I'm happy enough unlocking all the cars over time. Would be excellent if there does turn out to be that many... I wouldn't have thought there would be, but there it is right there. :)

I bought my PSP when I was working for Darlington Nuclear this spring. Needed something to do while waiting to get dosed up! :D

Without GT, the PSP would be getting sold like my Nintendo DS did, last Christmas. For $$$!

That quote about infinite time polishing wasn't too encouraging. They speak like that's a pro, not a con :D

It would be nice to have a new PSP game for once, although, I think i'd need a claybar to get all the dust off of the damn thing.

What was that about infinite turd polishing? :D

I hear that, the only thing that saved my PSP from being around more than a week is that FF7 looks much better on the little screen than the 47".

Sounds reasonable. He did say it.

He also once said you'll be able to play all the tracks from GT4 in GT5.

If there are two tiers, I'm definitely buying the deluxe version with free DLC.

I already have a version on order with Amazon... I guess the lower of the two.

Some of you in this thread are the type of people that bitch when a game isn't released on a time table of your liking, yet will bitch hard if the game isn't up to par or buggy, then go off about how they should of spent more polishing it.

I for one am glad they are taking their time and have Blizzards mentality of "when it's done it's done". I will take a quality game that took for ever to come out over a game that was rushed out the door any day.

That would be more re-assuring if Blizzard didn't have a history of massive patches to sort out the problems their games release with. :D

Mmk, well you can tell us all how Duke Nukem Forever is then :p Personally I'd rather the imperfect game that I can play now to the perfect game that never comes out because its a pipe dream. There has to be a balance, as long as the game is stable, there has to be a point where the dev says "ok, its been long enough, lets wrap it up and send it off". You can't endlessly polish a game to perfection because there is no such thing as perfection and the games industry is constantly moving.

Gran Turismo is not Duke though, they have always took their sweet ass time with Gran Turismo, they have always took forever and released dates have been pushed back several times with the previous ones.

Awesome to see GT still on the top for racing games, let alone still an exclusive to the PS system.
