grainy video please halp

i just put together a high end machine but video is rather grainy and i dont know how to fix it

info:
card: sapphire vaporx 5870
latest catalyst and dx11 (btw that fixed an issue with games not loading, installing, crashing)
hd/brrips, 720p vid caps, and standard def videos are all way too grainy in native res and full screen
hdmi to xbr and dvi to asus monitor using mpc and vlc both produce same results
bioshock runs at max settings and looks good
