I just wanted to be sure, but is a Corsair Professional Series Gold 750-Watt 80 Plus PSU sufficient to run two HD7950s in CF? One is the Sapphire OC edition and the other is a Gigabyte Winforce. I plan to do somewhat high overclocking on both, but not extreme in the least.

The max on each will each will probably be 1150Mhz with 1.237 volts. Is that too much for two cards on my PSU?
 
its plenty, i have my 2500K OCed to 3.8ghz, and my 7970 OCd to 1000/1500

and i only draw about 350 watts peak at the wall. and that includes a monitor and a powered keyboard and a router.
 
That PSU will run any two crossfire or SLI cards you want this generation. Two 690's might be pushing it though.
 
I ran a pair of 5970s off an 800 watt PSU for about a year without issue and then a pair of 6970s off it for awhile as well without problem. I imagine you'll be just fine.
 
Ya, 7970 is pretty energy efficient, unless u over volt and over clock the shit out of it. At stock voltage, 1100 mhz should barely push 200 watt i think . So 750w psu, a good one at that should have np at all driving pair of them.

The 7950s actually use less power than the 6950s. I had 2x 6950s with my Corsair 750TX and they ran just fine with +20% power. Needless to say, my 850TX is now overkill.
 
I have two 7950 and I have a power monitor, so I can see how much power my system is using.

Running on default clocks (800/1250) the max power was 480W (1v)
OC to 1000/1250 the max power was 560W (1.1v)
OC to 1000/1400 the max power was 610W (1.1v)


I had a 7970 before on the same system, running a single 7970 at 1200/1600 uses the same power as TWO 7950 running at 1000/1250 = 560W
