Yeah, heat output. Can you say almost 10° cooler!Would I see any benefit running my 9600GT and 9800GT cards on GPU3 over GPU2?
I switched my hottest running card to GPU3 and I'm very satisfied with the massive temperature decrease (too bad my GX2 is no longer fully operational, it would have loved these WUs). This 8800GT card is running 1836Mhz shader clock. However, I see only ~5700PPD processing a P11177 WU, is this an expected performance level?besides the P11177 and 11179 the PPD is roughly the same. on those 2 WU's you should see mid 6k range on the 9800GT if you can get the shader clock to 1728 or 1782..
Sounds about right. However, I see only ~5700PPD processing a P11177 WU, is this an expected performance level?
It increased a bit. Now it's reporting ~5850 PPD. The temp decrease is more than worth it though. I can actually feel the difference, although I don't know if that's a good thing now that it's winter. If I switch my entire farm over the temp decrease might be a little too much, LOL Also, I might want to keep GPU2 on my -bigadv machines if these WUs have a higher CPU usage. Mind you, with all the 353s we've been receiving on the GPU2 clients the past month, it still might be worth the switch over. There's nothing worse than the 353s as far as CPU usage is concerned that a G92/GT200 card will ever get.sounds about right. guess the WU's are smaller then i thought, figured they would take advantage of the extra 14 SP's on the 8800GT.
There is no G92 9600GT, and G94 isn't better than G92. It's just a smaller version meant specifically for the 9600GT, although it was also used in the newer cut-down version of the 9600GSO.the g94 is basically a modified g92 gpu which actually is better then the g92 so it should perform the same as the g92 9600GT. should see around 3500-4000 if you can overclock the snot out of it.
I don't consider those temps as anything to be very concerned about unless you have other reasons to be wary. I've had my cards operating at sustained temps over 90° during the warmest months, and the card I was referring to in my earlier posts was running over 90° up until a couple of hours ago when I made the switch to GPU3. I'm not saying one should operate their cards at high temps all the time, but 75-80° is within a safe range that increasing the shader clock one domain higher won't cause undue harm. It's worth a shot if the temp will increase only a couple of degrees providing you already have decent cooling.I wish I could overclock either of the cards.. As it is they both run anywhere from 75-85C at full load. I doubt I can push them any higher.

You outright said there was a G92 9600GT:i wasn't referring to there being a G92 9600GT. i was referring that it performs pretty much the same as the G92 gpu.
as far as better the G94 was showing a lot more promising numbers when it came to overclocking against the G92 8 series until nvidia raised the voltage on the G92 in the 9800GT which allowed the G92 to overclock higher. most of the G94's topped out around 720mhz while the majority of the G92 8 series could barely reach 700mhz.
it should perform the same as the g92 9600GT.
You outright said there was a G92 9600GT:
G94 GPUs would naturally overclock better than G92 GPUs since they had half the SPs. However, obviously the G92 GPUs were still more powerful.
