I will be buying the Koolance GTX 680 watercooling block soon but I had a question regarding watercooling gpu blocks (new to watercooling).

Can the connections for the water cooling fittings, whether they be compression or barb type, be put on either side of the wc block? In some pictures I see people put them on the chip side and others the barbs are pointing towards the back of the card, I just wanted to know if you can choose or if some brands require a certain way, etc?

Thanks
