I'm wondering if there are any programs that I can run in the background while playing games to check to see how much of the VRAM is being used or see how much resources the game is using for the game.

What program can I use?

GPU-Z. There's a checkbox to tell it to collect data while in the background.
 
Ive played around with msi afterburner some while benchmarking/burn in testing with Furmark and got a question about the graphs afterburner displays............

For the GPU Usage % and graph, is that indicating the vram usage or just the gpu as a whole?
I'd like to see how much of the 2GB of vram I am using during different benchmarks/scenarios
 
GPU usage is just the load on the graphics core. There is a separate section(with the 2.2 Beta 8 version) for VRAM.
 
Speaking of GPU utilities (sorry to hijack the thread a bit), but are there any good ones for automatically finding "max" clock speeds anymore? I think on my GTX 280s I used GPUTool...is that still working for current gen cards? I remember it worked well on the 280s, but the tool hasn't been updated in a looooong time.

Anything else out there?
 
What can I do or run to max out my VRAM? I want to really stress this and see how it performs with different clock speeds and settings
