I am looking for a new GPU and I was looking for some advice!

I have an i5 - 2500k a gtx 460 768mb and I'm playing at 1920x1200



obviously this just simply isn't enough vram for what I want to play battlefield etc.. I am looking to spend anywhere between 250-300 and I was mainly looking at the new 7850..

I had a gtx560ti 448 core but it was defective and I RMA'd it ;(

No, I think soon you will be lucky to find a 6950 at all (At least non-used). Best advice unless you just get lucky is to save and re-assess when Kepler comes out, either buy an appropriately priced kepler, or buy a 7K series card that falls into your budget if AMD slashes prices. (I could see the 7870 getting into the $300 dollar area when kepler comes out Maybe... just depends on what Nvidia does)
 
560Ti is the best current $/performance card based on multiple games, te next 2 are the 6870 or for a bit more then 6950 2gb.

7800 series are thier own beasts (prior to kepler launching) the 7850 is more $ then the 560/6950s obviously but ends up faster as well, the 7870 is the best for the higher cost ATM.

Kepler comes I honestly see the Radeon cards not changing thier price much overall, though the 7900 series probably drop a few $ to compete so the 7800 will as well and the 6900/6800 and others will have no choice but to drop some, that being said, at least there is a decent stepping stone in current price ranges

7770-6850-6870-560ti-6950-7850-560 448-570-7870-7950-580-7970, anyways if one comes out gtx680 as example and occupies same price as the 7970 but is faster (supposed to target $549) then the 7970 drop to maybe $500 or below, the rest are going to get quite decent cost changes, then I can see the future the 7870 will be the $/performance card to beat.
 
I'm in the same boat with a 5850, having said that again it is only Battlefield 3 that's making me look to upgrading; every else (aside from maybe Metro 2033) handles just fine (well, everything else tend to be pure console ports :( ).

I don't have an aftermarket heatsink on mine, so I don't know. I hear alot of people put Antec 620 H20 coolers ont hem though. I'm just gonna do the highflow bracket and a backplate on mine and call it done.

how easily is the application of the highflow brackets and backplates
 
From what I've gleened from the internet, simple. Couple of screws and swap the bracket and install the plate. I haven't received mine yet, so I'll let ya now once I have them installed and the diff in temps and such.

Or wait for the Keplar cards with 2GB + VRAM.
 
$120 for a 480 cant beat that, a different cooler and you are doing very well, 480s are still VERY powerfull cards, 7900s, 580, or kepler will be more powerfull and draw less power possibly less heat, but 480 for $120 is a song.
 
uh... yeah $120 would be, I believe they're $210 though which is still good.
Had this come up a couple days earlier I would have been in for 2 :(
 
If you can't wait, then get a 560ti 448c or a 570. If you can wait, then see what Kepler brings and keep an eye of pricing from both NV and AMD.
