current specs:

amd II X4 955 @ stock 3.2
4 gigs DDR3
ATI 5850
650w corsair psu

I can run BF3 on medium, but I was wondering if I could upgrade to a 570 or one of the other beast cards that's out without bottlenecking my CPU/needing a higher wattage PSU.

I've been out of the loop for quite a while, so I'm basically pissing in the wind

From what I've heard BF3 is pretty demanding on your CPU. I'm pretty sure any upgrade to your GPU will make the CPU be your bottleneck.

You can upgrade to a 570 or 6950 with that power supply no problem, and the X4 isn't going to be much of a bottleneck (although you could always overclock it).

the card to choose really depends on your resolution. but either way i highly recommend overclocking that 955 to 3.6 or 3.8Ghz. it should add about 10-15fps, especially if you decide to go with a 570 or 6950.

If your MB supports crossfire, I would add another 5850. I have almost the exact same specs with crossfire 6870s and I get great FPS with high settings. (May want to add another 4 GBs of system ram as well since it is so cheap right now)
