gpu upgrade advice!

guys i am very new here.i want a gpu in 250$ range.should i wait for kepler or tahiti or go with gtx 560ti?will the new gpus be using pcie 3.0?sory fo bad english.

The new GPUs will probably be using PCIe 3.0, but it won't make any performance difference for a single card (and probably not for SLI either). If you need something now, than just buy now - the new AMD cards are releasing in January at the earliest, and won't be $250 since they are releasing the high-end first (reportedly), and no one knows when the new Nvidia cards are coming out (and they won't be $250 at the start either).
 
I would say the best bang for the buck is still the 6950 depending on what games you are playing. You can find those for less than $250.
 
It depends on how long you want to wait. Usually people buy cards for the games they want to play. For that budget either 6950 or 560 Ti is a good choice. But I'd wait for Tahiti cards and see if prices fall. Likely Tahiti is out of your price range, but Nvidia and AMD might drop lower tier prices. Tahiti is releasing soon, but other cards might take months so I probably would not wait for them.
 
you can get a evga 560ti 448 that matches the 570 in benchmarks for 289
 
thnx guys.m gettng a 6950 then.also 6950 seems to outplay 560 in most of the benchmarks
 
and yet again not a single person asked what the OPs specs are?

OP, please list the rest of your computers specs and what resolution you want to play at.

until you figure out what your other specs are then you do not need to buy a video card. most people around here never even bother to ask anymore.

ty. you left out power supply though which is still very important to know. a gtx560ti 448sp would be the very lowest card to upgrade to since your gtx460 is already pretty decent. I would probably wait a few weeks though since AMD will be releasing new cards in early to mid January. also I would go ahead and upgrade your ram since it is so cheap right now.

Personally I had a similar setup and got a 6950 2GB for <$250. It performed a lot better, especially when unlocked to the 6970 BIOS.
 
OP looks like you have a pretty good setup so far. I can run almost anygame on high settings with no issues and im almost half the comp you are.

i3-2100, 2x4gb DDR3 1333, Sata3-500GB HDD, HD 5750 1GB at 775mhz (slightly OC) on a H61 board.

the 460 giving you issues? whats the need for the upgrade?

I play BF3, WOW, Skyrim, Assasins Creed Brotherhood, COD BlackOps - No issues and still 10X better screen play then my consoles.

rather than upgrade cn i get a 550ti?does sli wid diff models work.i heard it does from anothr forum.
 
Get a 560ti 448. Maybe you should wait for Ati ti release their 7000 series GPU and see what they have in store for teh 250$ range.

You can CFX certain different models of AMD cards, but you cannot SLI different models of Nvidia cards. You can SLI cards of the same model with different settings, but that can also cause problems occassionally, at best the SLI will only work at the speed of the lowest setting card. (IE a if you can get them working in SLI, a GTX 560 Ti 384 and a GTX 560Ti 448 will work at the speed of the 384).

You sure about this? The 560ti use GF114 like the 560 while the 448 uses GF110 like the 570 and 580.

Unless I'm mistaken, you could SLI the 448 with the 570 but not the 560ti.

Note, I said "if you can get them working in SLI". Not sure if they will work together actually. Probably should have used a different example heh. Like an overclocked 560Ti with a stock 560Ti.
