GPU temperatures; Fan

Just two questions:

1) I overclocked my eVGA 7900GT KO to 600/1600 (running stable, as far as I can tell; no artifacts of the sort) and I'm getting ~54 C idle and low 70's load. Are these temperatures good?

2) My Zalman CNPS9500 CPU heatsink's is making quite a bit of noise (I think it's running full speed). Is there any way to lower the fan speed? The Fanmate2 doesn't seem to work.

Actually, three questions.

3) My RAM seems to be running at PC2-5300 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231065 ) instead of the advertised PC2-6400. How would I go about bring it back up to advertised speeds? I use an Asus P5W DH motherboard.

are you sure ?

Some are set by SPD and they start at 5300 but in windows go to 6400 , my supertalants do that.

ALso set it in the BIOS in Advanced tab and then Chipset , then ram speed by SPD or manual.

I'm pretty sure it's running at 5300. I checked in CPU-Z and it said that my RAM was running at 333 MHz, 5-5-5-12.

I'll try that.

My BFG 7900GT (475/680) idles around 46-52 depending on time of day. Just a point of reference. I guess 54 with those speeds seems okay.

My 7900 idles around 40c and load is around 50c. Installed and arctic cooling 5 rev3.

I had a problem with my eVGA 7900GT running at 54C at idle. I just bought the Zalman VF900-CU and it dropped that down to 42C immediately after install. Amazing and I highly recommend you getting one. Great for overclocks.

my 7900gt is at 650/800 with a vf900 i get 37 idle temps (2d mode of course) and low-mid 60 load temps. i have hit 70+ sometimes with extended use, so the temps are fine

Problems solved. Thanks.

The noise wasn't coming from the heatsink fan, though. The fan is actually fairly quiet at full speed. The noise is actually coming from the small fan on the 7900GT, and quite a bit of it. It's the loudest thing in my system.

Looks like that Zalman VGA cooler will be on my list of things to buy.
