Hello! Sorry if there is a thread on this already but... i decided to get my cpu folding too besides the ps3 and gpu... so i went and installed the smp client.. once i downloaded it and installed it said something like another F@H client is running... so i was wondering how can i get my cpu and gpu to fold at same time...

p.s. i am going to also get my 3450 in my sff amd x2 to fold on the weekends so more ppd muahahhaha!!!
fold on!! :D

You must make sure that each client on your computer has a seperate Machine ID number. Use 1 for the SMP client and 2 for the GPU client. If they aren't different, you get the error that you had. I used to have the same problem until I realized what it was saying.

sorry don't understand do you mean the folder in F@H? like Folding@home-gpu and add a 1 to it?  Thanks!

No, in the configuration of the GPU folding program it has an option for a Machine ID number. You just need to make sure it is different from the SMP folding program's Machine ID. That would have been set when you did the original configuration. Run your SMP Folding Program with the option -configonly to reset it.

ah ok makes sense now! Thanks!

I found out the issue, but decided not to fold on the cpu for now.. waiting around Dec time

just use the system tray folding client.. set it to use 1 core.. and set your gpu client to use the other core.. shouldn't cause any issues..

hmm well i still have trouble  why me! lol.. anyways, this one im on is the gpu client.. so then i went and download the SMP one... i ran it but still looked like it was using the gpu core.. and also the system became really really laggy... after i quit it the speeds were back to normal... sighs

i believe the smp client allows it to use multiple cores.. not sure never used it or bothered to since i run the gpu client on a dual core.. so i use the other core with the system tray cpu client.. i just set the FahCore_8x.exe (x standing for the various different cores it uses..) to use core 0.. my gpu client automatically uses core 1..

some how i made that all look like i did it on 1 display.. even though i have 4.. i figured you wouldnt want to look at 1 giant picture.. :p but hopefully that helps.. if not then maybe we can work on it from another angle..
