should i pick up a single 580 which i would use for gaming when not folding. and i would move my 465(470 moded) to full time duty

or should i just pick up couple 450's for 24/7 folding. and just keep my 465 as my gaming card then folding when not gaming.

Regardless i need to pick up a new vid card for my q9300 system that.

or are the newer work units making the 450 pointless now?

If you stock volt oc all these cards get about these ppd on 6800s:
580 = 17.5k
570 = 16k
470 = 13k
460 = 11.5k
450 = 8k???

It would seem that if you game for say 3 hours a day getting the GTX 580 will only give you about 4kppd more. I would just get a 460 I think unless you want to upgrade for gaming purposes.

if the 460 is an Idea i'd just wait. because you know a 560 will be out soon enough which would be a more power efficient version of the 470. or hell i'd still just wait til the 6970's are released from AMD which will force Nvidia to price cut like a mofo. then from there decide whats worth spending the money on.

Been posted for years is part of the problem. It is severally outdated and FLECOM felt it best to unsticky it. I had started a new version but haven't had a chance to finish it yet. What do you need help with Sparky?

Bigadv folding is still on top for the time being. If you're considering spending $550 on a GTX 580 for the ppd you could instead upgrade the Q9300 with an i7 930, GTX 560 and mobo for the same price if you go used or slightly above if you need to buy DDR3. That would give you a rig that should put out about 45kppd.

I guess you were just looking for a GPU but if you wanted farm suggestions...

i just got a 980x thats big adv folding atm.

right now i just need a video card and PSU to get the q9300 back up folding. and then ill add another gpu to that system at a later date.

I wouldn't buy anything over a 460 if your primary concern is folding.

I got my GTX 460 for $150 AR and they can be found there pretty often, it pulls 11.5k ppd.

The GTX 580 is $500 and reportedly pulls 17.5k ppd.

Thas $350 for 6k ppd when you could just buy another couple 460's and get 23k extra ppd.

Unless you need it for gaming, don't get the 580.

a GTX 570 is a better bang for the buck. Never get the top of the line unless you have a huge monitor or multiple monitors for gaming. In my opinion, the 2nd/3rd card from the top is always the best bang for the buck for most people with 20-24" monitors.
