The answer is probably here, but I'm pretty lazy and don't wanna search..:)
Anyway, one of my boxen has an X1900XT in it, so I installed the GPU client.

I have it up and running ...should I also leave the regular client running..I did that last night and they both seem to run fine.
The GPU client ran overnight and completed one WU already....
The box is nothing special, its a Compaq, P4 3.2 with 2Gb ram....
The X1900XT is in here cause I had it laying around so I thought I would put it to use....

also, will the GPU show up as another CPU in my stats?
I have 12 systems running, will it show 13 now?

Thanks for any answers....

No what shows in the stats is per installation of an application. Also my experience thus far with the GPU is unimpressive. My P4 at 3.6 with a 1950Pro at 622/725 is jsut a hair under 700 PPD, which kinda stinks considering it is using both the GPU and the CPU.

Is this a dual core P4? If so, then you're probably better off with the SMP client if it can make the deadline. If not, then a combination of GPU+standard console client is the next best setup.

Consider yourself lucky. Well, I have a nearly identical setup as you P4@3.5GHz+1950Pro) and can't get over 600PPD without corruption. Actually, now I'm down to ~590PPD because of WU crashes and was forced to lower the GPU clock. What are your GPU and video memory frequencies, BTW?

The OC on the 1950 was listed. 622/722 something like that. I went for 625/725 cuz its about 25 under my max oc and I know I can run that stable 24/7. The P4 is a hyperthreaded cpu so yes two threads could be run, right now i'm look at 50-60% cpu usage.

No, single core P4.....

OK, I didn't notice that you posted the frequencies, I was replying to too many forums concurrently....

:( Something doesn't make much sense about my setup. It's well over a month and I can't seem to produce the same amount of work as others with similar configurations. My clocks are currently at 628/769 and I make less than 600PPD. My CPU frequency is only 100MHz less than yours. This is probably not significant, but what RAM settings do you have?

No, single core P4.....
Is HT enabled? I believe the recommendations for single core processors is to run either one standard client or one GPU client, but not both simultaneously. Are you getting good production from both? What's the PPD for each?

Yeah HT is enabled...I'll check the PPD tonight, The GPU client only turned in its 1st WU this morning..

I'm looking for the most PPD from this box, so whichever is better Ill go with that.....I figured leaving them both on would be the best, but I guess that might not be the case

No what shows in the stats is per installation of an application. . .

So would that not mean that this box has 2 installations?.....One GPU app and one CPU app?

You never know, I might just try that myself since I already have both installed but running the GPU client alone for now. However, it's giving problems and the PPD is not as high as it should be, so maybe both clients is the answer. Like you, I'm trying to maximize this system as much as possible, otherwise I might not have it running for the power it consumes.

I have HT enabled. I can get you teh ram settings later tonight. I think it might be 1000mhz ram, but maybe not honestly not 100% sure as I have not touched the machine upgrade wise in over a year.

Currently I am only running the GPU client. It keeps my CPU at about 50% usage and when I pointed FAHmon at it it stated 681PPD. I wonder if you have a different version of the P4 and thus my Prescott is eeking out a hair more work. ?

I will get you info later today on the rest and I will try to get the cpu client working as its not pegged at 100% = I'm not getting 100% of my PPD out of the machine yet.

I think if you install the GPU and the CPU version yes that might show up as 2 cpus. I'll let you know when I do it tonight.
