Is it just me, or have prices on some recently outdated cards (4870, 5770, GTX 260, etc) begun to increase rather than decrease? I just happened to noticed that average selling prices on ebay on these cards seems to have gone up by at least $10 over the last couple months.

GPU price inversion?

Well the price of goods is a function of many variables, but it is a reasonable amount of corse graining (while considering aggregate price of a particular good) to limit to just two variables. Those are of course, supply and demand.
What we have with cards like gtx 285s etc....is that there is residual demand when prices come down since a lot of people would like to sli their cards, or have been holding out for one reason or another. What happens is that a lot of people get their hearts set on one of these cards and then prices go up....of course, then prices go down...then up...there is convergence around some equilibrium point for prices....but that eq. pt. is in fact a function of other factors too....
My point is is that this is completely normal and expected.

Sure you can. I sold mine just fine. The question is how much are you asking for it? Nobody is going to pay a lot more just because it has after market cooling on it. In fact if others are like me, its actually a bad thing. Nobody knows how well you put it on there or if you might have damaged the card in installing it.

sometimes it is hard to sell a video card. I tried to sell an 8600gt for $39 shipped 2 1/2 years ago with no luck. yet idiots were buying much older and slower 6800 cards for more than that.
i sold it for around $85
This. And it's without rhyme or reason. People pay twice as much for a 9500GT 1GB as they do for a 9500GT 512MB, thinking that the extra VRAM will make a difference, and both have DDR2. It's pathetic.
