Hey guys, great forum.

So I downsized my rig lately, from a atx sized setup to now a mini itx setup. (old setup worked fine)
Im using the same cpu, graphics card & ram.

When i boot the pc without the graphics card in place, computer boots without issue, but when I put it in, it fails to boot. The fans on the gpu do spin up, but I am not getting any video out on the monitor. Infact I dont think the OS is even loading at all. My new case is the silvertstone SG08, I chose it as it seemingly supported my gpu (according to their website) and the built in psu (600w) seemed to be enough for me.

I have updated the motherboard bios and have even set pci graphics as default graphics in options, but this has made no difference.

The gpu is only 3 months old, I dont think its the problem, I recieved a new motherboard from amazon yesterday as I thought the first motherboard was damaged, not so. So Im leaning that the psu is either under-powered or faulty ?

any advise appreciated

specs: i7 3770k
SG08 case with built in 600w 80+
16gb corasir dominator platnium
evgra geForce gtx 680
h80i cooler
mb asus p8z77-i deluxe

Is the motherboard able to POST? You probably don't have a motherboard speaker, I'd get one of those before I start RMAing things
 
Just to rule out the obvious: PCIe power cables plugged in?
 
Another obvious thing... is the monitor cable plugged into your videocard and not the motherboard?...
 
If you can get it to post with the onboard gpu, try looking in the bios to see graphics boot and make sure that the virtu-u stuff is disabled, otherwise it will try to use both gpus, so even though the 680gtx is in there it might light-up on the motherboard ports. Also have you tried updating the bios to the latest version? Finally you might want to make sure that the card is actually seated well in the socket and there is no flex on the board casuing weird issues.

I experienced a similar issue with a 680gtx in win 8, but it posted ok, but after installing the nvidia drivers I guess win 8 installed another set of drivers causing blackscreen boots into win 8 that was really obnoxious and required pulling the card out and safemode activities.

Well Im a *****ing major dumbass, as suggested above...I never took the hdmi out of the mb and into the gpu...

How would an HDMI cable cause your PC not to boot though...?
 
I'm guessing he meant their was no picture when he said it didn't boot. He didn't say it didn't power on.
