I recently installed two kraken g10's with two kraken x41's on my 290 crossfire setup.

I am having an issue with my second gpu. When I load windows, I get a displayed driver crash error. Amd catalyst does not read the 2nd gpu (tho at first, it did), but gpuz reads the second gpu, and for some reason the secondary gpu is running at a load of 99% , with the core running full speed- so the gpu cannot be dead. If I take my dvi cable and plug it Into the second gpu, I get no display.

Reinstalling catalyst drivers leads to a blue screen, but sometimes it competes, tho warns me of errors.

I am thinking, and hoping, this is a software glitch. I just need some I out and advice and this scenario, because as of yet, I cannot seem to fix it, though I will perform more troubleshooting.

Try turning off ulps with msi afterburner. Then load up gpuz and make sure your temps are ok on each card. I tried running a similar setup and found that one gpu was severely overheating... btw the radiator placement makes a huge difference...

Also are you running the gelid vrm cooling kit ? Check the vrm temps I think below 80c is ok... but might need some help

Forgot to mention try 1 at a time with furmark or something that will load the card

thanks for reply, but card is dead. if I leave just that card in, my monitor does not detect it at all. seems like it died a slow death. went from being corrupt and unstable to complete death. something went wrong with the installation of one of the g10 brackets. could be gpu radiator mount was bad, or , could be those heatsinks (cosmos and gelid). My good gpu is running fine...core idles at 32 c, with 49c under full load; vrm1 and 2 idle at 31 and 2c, with full load of 60c. The strangest thing is, at first boot, both cards worked fine on idle, but an instant overheat occurred when running heaven, on the core (not vram). could be a bad mount then. The g10 brackets are somewhat poorly designed, but when it works, it works very well.

when testing last night, I think the dead gpu shorted out. the lights in my room dimmed and the pc froze. I just don't know how it occurred.

Cards die like this randomly, it's almost impossible to tell how it died. It could be from overheating, or the circuitry just gave out and a short occurred. So long as you can RMA the card, you should be able to test it again.

Run the GPU's one at a time in slot one and then the second slot. Give us an update on what happens.
