GPU dedicated and dynamic memory?

Any explanation on this? Dynamic memory is the memory that's "on" the card, right? But how does dedicated memory works?

And a second question. I have two 7970 cards running in CF. Both cards have 3GB, but it still only counts as 3GB? How come?
 
I can answer the second question. In order for xfire to work, both cards must mirror the data sent tk them to work on rendering the scene. So in effect, you still only have 3 gb of vram.
 
From my understanding dedicated is referring to the memory on the GPU whereas dynamic is the memory sticks installed on the motherboard.

And the reason why it only counts as 3GB is because each card does not have the ability to access the other cards memory and thus is only 3GB.
