GPU cooler plugged into chasis fan plug?

My original GPU cooler died on my old card (different computer than in my sig) so I bought a 10 dollar replacement. The power connector on the fan doesn't fit onto the stock video card plug, but fits perfectly with the chasis fan plugin on my motherboard. The replacement fan came with an adapter to plug into a molex, but it'd be less messy if I used the chasis fan plug. I was just wondering, would this be a good idea? I don't see how it wouldn't be, but I do like to check before I do something that might fuck me over if I'm not sure about it :p

Thanks in advance.
