Ok so I've been looking at different GPU's that I'd like to buy eventually. My dilemma is that a couple of places I looked at show different results for GTX 670 GTX 680 and HD 7970 GHz, with GTX always coming up top.

While on this website in apples to apples Radeon more often then not has better benchmarks
and again

But on Linus, his scores show different

Also regarding nVidia having physX, would it be better to run Radeon and have a dedicated physX card?

I am hoping that someone can enlighten me, pretty confused at this moment...

Edit: I usually hold reviews here closer to light than other sites.

Well the results will always differ, given driver releases and different test benches. But at this moment in time, the 7970 is the strongest single GPU card. Nvidea will soon take that back with the release of Titan, but if you're looking for the best look no further than the 7970. Not to say that nvidea's offerings are weak; I myself have two 670s.

Regarding the physX dilemma, it really isn't a dilemma in the first place. So few games utilize it that it isn't worth it having a dedicated card. You really don't have to worry about it.

OP check the recent reviews. AMD drivers have improved performance a lot after 12.11 beta / 13.1 whql. HD 7970 Ghz is the fastest card without a doubt.

"at 1920x1200, the GeForce GTX 680 was just ~1% faster than the Radeon HD 7970, while it trailed the 7970 GHz Edition by a 7% margin. This doesn’t change at 2560x1600, where the GeForce GTX 680 is 2% slower than the Radeon HD 7970 and 11% slower than the 7970 GHz Edition"

On monday Nvidia is releasing the GK110 based Geforce GTX Titan . its a USD 900 powerhouse. expected to around 50% faster than GTX 680.

What he said. The 7970 right now, with the current drivers, is just the better card. If you want to same some money, the 7950 right now is still an absolutely great value.
