GPU client problem

I installed the GPU client just to see how it might work with my system, and the client crashes with an error message stating that file d3d9.dll was not found. The file is in my system in three different places, but the client can't seem to locate it. I reinstalled the client several times but the error keeps coming up. I have Win XP SP2 installed and the video card is an AGP HIS X1950 Pro with 512MB. Anyone ever experience a similar problem or know what it could be?

that's a directx file, so you may wanna install the latest version of directx. even if you have 9.0c, reinstalling with the latest monthly release may just update the links to that file that the client is wanting to look for

OK, I installed the latest version of DX and the error seems to have vanished. Hmm, it seems to be using 100% of my processor, is this normal? Hopefully I'll be able to finish this WU to determine the GPU client's viability vs the standard client. Thanks.

BTW, I took a glance at the PM you sent me a while ago regarding the high point WUs in the standard client, and I never receive any of those. I don't why, most of the WUs I get are worth between 200 and 300 points, nothing in the upper range you mentioned...

I've been receiving less of them in the past week or two, so their run may be up for now. I've almost exclusively been switched over to ~350 point range double gromacs units, which run a bit quicker at fewer points, but end up being about the same PPD.

I have a few other questions. My CPU is seeing a constant 100% utilization with the GPU client. I previously believed the GPU client does not use the CPU that much. I remember reading the CPU is utilized occasionally and some people have successfully run multiple types of clients alongside the GPU client.

Well the first WU is more than 80% done. It appears to be good for ~640PPD give or take. That exceeds my two slowest SMP machines by about 100PPD each. I didn't expect superior production. Here is a portion of the progress:

[08:29:16] Project: 2723 (Run 1, Clone 481, Gen 21)
[08:29:16]
[08:29:16] Assembly optimizations on if available.
[08:29:16] Entering M.D.
[08:29:23] Working on Protein
[08:29:23] Starting GUI Server
[08:37:02] Completed 1
[08:44:37] Completed 2
[08:52:15] Completed 3
[08:59:51] Completed 4
[09:07:29] Completed 5
[09:15:05] Completed 6
[09:22:33] Completed 7

It is averaging approximately 7:26 per frame. I assume this is a typical production rate. Is there any way to increase the performance of my system with the GPU client? Both the CPU and GPU seem to be running much cooler than I initially thought. They are barely warm to the touch, really weird...

System specs is a 2.8GHz P4 Northwood @3.5GHz from a notebook with an OEM HSF and stock voltage. There is 512MB of DDR memory. Hyperthreading is not enabled since I'm having problems getting it recognized with this board for some reason. BTW, Is the CPU frequency even important at all? What else can I do? OC the video card??

When i was running the GPU client on my 4400x2 I lost a core to the gpu client, I think thats just the way it is,
As for the GPU it is likely running in 2D mode @ lower clocks there are ways to push it into 3d mode using 3rd party programs like ATI tool.
