Basically im thinking of upgrading my GPU to a GTX 760 or a 770 which ever is cheaper and makes more sense for the money dropped.

I'm just looking on advice if its really worth upgrading my GPU or not? i'm kinda bored and want to get a Nvidia GPU and how big a performance difference would it be?

I'm thinking of selling my 7850 to my dad for like $100 bucks or somthing, hes running my very old 460GTX heh

also my prices need to be in CDN im looking around the $300 range.

Thanks

Looking at this http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_559&item_id=061635

and this http://products.ncix.com/detail/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-760-oc-a8-85587-1363.htm

I actually came across a deal while looking around and it seems the twin fozra 760 gtx i can get it onsale for $269 CDN and it seems this MSI card is the best bang for the buck.

That card but not at the price, i can most likely price match it with Tigerdirect (they have it on sale for 269)

Edit: Went and bought a MSI GTX 760 TF OC Edition for $269.99

The 760 is a better deal over a 770. A gtx 770 is simply an overclocked 680.

Personally I would buy a gtx 670 out of the classifieds for around $200 USD. They are slightly stronger than a 760. I believe there's an EVGA one right now in the classifieds for $200 shipped (not sure if they will ship to Canada but worth asking). And with EVGA, the warranty is based off the serial number.

But if you are set on a 760, I would go with the Asus.

Yeah i know you meant a 670 but i cant find a 670 on a retail site, its actually more money then a 760.

and don't really want to buy a second hand graphics card.

Any particular reason why you would get the Asus or MSI for a 760?? i hear the MSI is alot better and plus its clocked higher then the ASUS

The Asus is cheaper, and Asus has better build quality than MSI (though MSI isn't bad).

Isn't the Asus cheaper? Stock clocks don't mean much at all. I would just go for whatever is cheaper.

the Asus and MSI are actually the same price on sale $269. I think i am leaning towards the MSI, comes with 3 year warranty and its said to be cooler and quieter.

I dont see how asus would be better build quality. support sucks from asus lately. I'd go MSI. My friend has the gigabyte you listed in the first post as well boosts into the mid 1200s and runs cool. nice card.

Better VRM setup, higher quality components used.

The Asus also has a 3 year warranty. Both cards are quiet and cool, gtx 760's are not hot cards at all.

Okay thank you for the feedback just came back home with the MSI in my hand :) there was a zotac 770 on sale for $359 was really considering it but I have no idea what zotac was like and the sales man said the after market on it is cheaper compared to the Asus and MSI and evga brand names

Plus when I walked out the store it was outdated so I decided to keep the extra $100 in my pocket and wait 2-3 years for another GPU.

Also non reference pcb with high end components and 3 year warrantee. Support is far superior to Asus as well.

I never said the MSI was crap or something, it's still a good card. The problem with the MSI is the fan's have been know for frequent failures. Hopefully the OP is more fortunate.
As I stated, both have 3 year warranties.

MSI's support is far better, with that I will agree. However, I've seldom had to bother with Asus' support compared to MSI's ;)

Thats the old tf cooler tho. The new Gaming models have bigger and better fans. I suppose time will test the fail rate but I haven't seen any yet.

It's still a TF, did you read the sticker on the fan? lol

Bigger puts more load on the bearing, that doesn't sound promising. Hopefully they improved the bearing design then.

I really like Shadow play... haha and also the optimization stuff on Geforce Experience

Card is sitting nicely at a 25c Idle and 50-55 underload (Playing Skyrim)

i like the card so far :D and just registered it with MSI and got my 3 year warranty so ... Whoot :D

I would've taken any 770 over any 760. But I'm glad your happy with it. Zotac's are nice especially if u get an AMP edition. Not sure how hard there support is to deal with. Had a few amp cards now with no issue hopefully I won't have to find out.

Just like i would've taken a 780 over a 770 :p but i had a budget so lol

Regarding warranties in Canada, something to keep in mind is both MSI and Asus actually have RMA centers in Canada (Asus - Markham,Ontario, MSI - Markham, Ontario and Richmond, BC). Where as everyone else you need to send to the USA (mostly California), as such turn around shipping times and shipping costs are generally lower.

So Canadian RMA experiences are slightly different. I haven't heard the same horror issues with Asus Canada RMA (possibly because you deal with essentially totally different group) compared to some of the issues with Asus USA RMAs now it seems.

As long as you adhear to Asus' strict guidelines for an RMA, you will have no problems. It's only the people that don't pay attention that have issues. They will deny an RMA for not having ''atleast 2 inches of packing material the entire way around the product''.

The 760 is a better buy than a 770. I never recommend a 770, overpriced for what you get IMO.

Ya here in Canada it is a ripoff because of the dollar right now. If u can find them around 300 like in the US 770's are a good price.
