My comptuer now has 2 8800 GTS 640MB cards in it. Problem is that it now doubles as a space heater, because I can ACTUALLY TELL the difference in the room from adding the new card.

Just wait. It gets worse.

During the day when I'm home (and A/C is running) my office easily hits the mid 80's. When I'm not home (and the A/C is off, or running infrequently) it tops out around 95-97.

Looks like I'm going to have to take the cooler off the new card and apply AS5 to it as well. It's running 77C at full load, while the other card is only hitting 69C at full load with the same cooler. I'm thinking part of it is the fact the new card has 112 shaders instead of 96 like my old card. But it still seems like too much difference. The things we do to keep our stuff cool. I've already got a case fan in the back that sucks like a 2 dollar whore and makes quite a bit of noise. It came out of an old dual pentium pro server case.

Now you know why the 9800GX2 is in the basement :p

Congrats on the upgrade.

BTW, you should try the SMP client on the laptop. You'll get more points that way. Don't know what CPU or OS you're running on your main rig, but you can try the SMP client there as well. Same goes for mommy's rig (hehe)

Mom's rig is a single core processor. Can't mess with it.

Upgrade time.
A single core CPU is far to slow to surf the net, etc.
You know you need a quad core with dual vid cards to surf correctly these days ..... :p

Luck ............ :D

She would never go for it. I might get away with a quad, but I'd doubt she'd pay for the video cards.

I got the SMP client set up on my laptop and on my main rig. I hope a X2 4400 is fast enough to get the SMP files out quick enough. It's for sure working.

Buddy, pal, ol' friend of mine... how's those points a gatherin? As you noted, heat gerneration is one reason I'm GPU lite.

The boxen room (AKA: basement, my 'other' office) also is on the verge of becoming a suana, so don't feel bad. Sunin's fighting the same issue on a larger scale, so don;t feel too bad.

Then again you know what this means, right? 1ZW098R41229408xxx It's MY turn.....

I see your tracking numbers and raise mine : 1Z A48 9A1 D9 0083 884 5

Orly? Don't worry I'm working on getting another car to work on, once I get it, 2x8800GS for my friends computers. I warned you. Now you will PAY!

Oraldlight:
And I don't believe you because you don't have the balls to post the whole Tracking number. You can't do anything with it, so I don't see why you are worried.

Xilikon:
Whatever you ordered has a bit of weight to it. It should arrive tomorrow according to their estimate.

Ya, PSU + 1x8800GS, the 2nd 8800GS will be shipped today (had to transfer stock from a store to the warehouse).

Man you are the bomb. I had no idea the SMP client went so much faster. Even with the 2 GPU clients my main rig is pulling 550PPD, and my laptop should be similar. That should make it even harder for Oraldlight to get away from me. It's gonna take about 3 days per block though.

hmmmm...... I'm pretty sure I'm not using SMP at this time..... maybe I should look closer.

I borged both my friends' computers. SMP clients for both. Also redid the heatsink compound on my new card. Bastards didn't apply it right at ALL. It had a HUGH gob of it, so much in fact that it had gushed all outside the contact area in little rolls. It took me a while to remove it all and replace it with AS5. I made sure it had good contact and put it all back together. And as much as I hate to, even with my monster fan in my case, it's not enough. If I don't remove the side of my case, the second GPU gets up to 81C after a while, and I just can't deal with that. I'm hoping it will get better as the AS5 cures, but I'd doubt it will be more than a degree or two. It drops almost instantly after removing the side of the case down to 77C.

17GPUs later tell me about heat!!! :) LOL... I guess the good side is I won't have to turn on the heat this winter!

I say you talk with your neighbors and tell them you'll pipe the hot air to them for 1/2 what their gas bill will be :D

Good Idea, I know I won't need a space heater next to my computer anymore!

Holy Tamales!!! Talk about a flame thrower.. My 260gtx is at 164-ish degrees in a 74degrees room. I'm only at 700mhz on the shaders and may try pushing further.

Ha!

Try a 9800GX2.....

I'll tell ya how 2 of em are back to back in less than a week :p

Just posted the comment on the other thread (GPU ppd reference) about how I'm not quite happy about the new PNY 260 gtx and how I can't adjust the shader clock. Granted it's doing about 700ppd more than the 8800gtx w/shader@1350mhz, but I was hoping for more.

MrBooMy is gonna mow me over pretty damn fast now.

Whaaaaa?

I've got my 260 OC-ed to the hilt.

I'm pushing 7150 ppd right now.

I'm scratching my head on this one.... Riva says it's supposed to be 750 (would be x2=1500) but everything I use to verify says 1350(stock value). Which/what do I believe?

I thought I saw mention of a PNY tweaking utility somewhere. It wasn't on my driver CD and I can't find it on the PNY site. Have I finally OD'd on Tamales and Beer?

My 260 stats are:
631 core, 1555 shaders, 1026 memory

As soon as I can line up a day to do the crown vic heater core repair, I'm buying 2x8800GSs for my friends' pcs. Then I will pwn you viciously! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! RRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Hey HighYield, did you hear something....?

I think I heard something way, way behind us :p

DutDaDuhhhhhh... Mystery solved. The (hic) overstressed monitor was driven so fast (hic) that the defective mouse operator (hic) couldn't notice the differnece between 2d and 3d in RivaTuner(BELLLLLCH). Shaders at 1500 and climbing.

Beer and tamlaes for everyone!!!!!

That doesn't make me look too stoopid now, does it?

I want to see a FAHMon/FAHSpy shot. I wanna see what I'm dealing with. I've already posted mine!

I already know what you have Ken, I was talking about Oraldlight. I don't have the money to catch up to you, nor the want to burn that much power. It's 12 cents a kWh here.

Wuss :p I can feel myself getting cancer from the EM fields :D

He is still messing with his shaders.....

Let him crash his rig a few times before posting a pic ;)

Figure this out. I was folding all day yesterday at 1564 shaders on both cards, no obvious issues. I get up this morning and BOTH cards had crashed and did the 24 hour EUE thingy. I dropped them down to 1512 and they've been going ever since. They ran for 2 days at 1564 without issue, that's the weird part. I even took the side off my case because the video cards ran much cooler like that, so it wasn't heat buildup.

Same system?

What power supply u got?

It's NOT the Power Supply, Corsair HX620. 'Nuff Said. Yes the same system.

I've been called out. That sounds like a challenge. Now that I got shaders sorted out:
main.php

Here's your money shot MrBooMy:
main.php

Yeah, disappointing, I know. But I've not gotten around to listing the Linux machines in FAH yet.

How do you get the preview image in these threads, rather than just the link?

Do you game at all?

If i load up a game and don't pause work my GPU is not very happy with me, and will crash on a WU or lose some of it's shaders.
