So...has Gothic 3 been patched to run better yet?

Do you think it will run well on my system: 3 gig P4, 1.5 gig ddr, ati X800 video card?

Thanks

Don't know about it running good on your system, it has always ran fine on mine. Gothic 3 is patched to 1.12 as of now, and there is plenty of tweaks on the World of Gothic, including fixing some INI files that are set surpisingly low. Fixes for FPS drops in forests and fixes sound issues.

Thanks...think i am gonna get it, but was worried about all the problems people were having.

the combat system is beyond broken if you plan to be Melee.

Weird. I liked the demo. I must've put 20 hours in the demo to explore. The game never crashed for me.

I melee, and I don't have anything to complain about. The combat system is intricate and satisfying, there is no combos or supermoves but, parrying and blocking is top notch. Deciding whether or not to throw a power swing or a quick jab is fun, and stabbing an opponent to pulling back with a full slash is grin inducing.

The character models during fights can be a bit annoying, as there is a few collision problems. But, overall I love it.

Well its not really broken its just. all you do is click your mouse until there dead. Once you hit them thats it. You can keep clicking till there dead. And they cannot break it. Its a pretty weak system compared to whats out there is what i ment.

guy in this video review explains it pretty well.

The problem with combat is that it no longer takes skill/thinking.

In G1/G2 you could have fun with the combat, but still be challenged by your enemies. In g3 it's just clickity click mindless button mashing like Oblivion's combat. I'd take G2's combat over G3's anyday.

Did the latest patch add FSAA support? It's amazing that they released this game without it.

I'm scared to pickup the game... It got the "Biggest Disappointment" award from Gamespy.

Its supposedly really really really buggy.

Sure it has bugs. But i went through the entire game TWICE and never really encountered anything game breaking and i've had the game since a couple of months after the UK release. Just had to reboot every 13 save games because of a memory leak they said had been fixed but wasnt, for me anyway. But since 13 saves was generally a full days gaming it wasnt a big deal.

The game is stupid addictive and much more interesting to explore than Oblivion imho. Besides, since it got crappy reviews you can probably pick it up for next to nothing now anyway. At least then, if you have problems that kill the game for you, it wont have cost you much.

True enough, its got enough not so great reviews that it will probably hit the bargain bin pretty quick... It does sound like a great game *if* they get the bugs ironed out, thats why I'm interested.

OT: I just picked up brand new Quake 4 for $4.98Cdn, its amazing how quickly games can drop in price.

for the most part bugs that will get squashed, have been squashed. i have been playing for awhile now with the 1.09 patch, and then with the 1.12 patch and its been pretty smooth running.

the engine isn't very well coded though... it takes a pretty beasty computer to run this game with everything maxed

I love this game. Everything about it is great. It is the only game I have played for eight solid weeks now. I ordered a 8800gts just to get more frames out of it. I currently run it on an x2 2.6 ghz rig with dual 7800gt's but sli makes no diference with this game. I am convinced it needs 512mb graphics memory.

Good Game... but for the love of god make duplicate copies of your save files!!! and dont use quicksave if you can help it. Many including myself (lvl 28) lost whole games because the game will sometimes corrupt the save games... especially the quicksave ones.

Im enjoying the hell out of this game. The level design is everything I wanted oblivion to be. Its amazing to look at the amount of detail that went into every town, fortress, cave and landscape to make them look unique. The amount of creatures is also stunning. Animals such as snakes, rabbits, and bugs help bring the world alive. The only dissapointing area which mainly just suprised me was that there were no water creatures, other than a crocodile. The game has its hiccups in the performance but since I have patched I have had no save errors, mission errors, memory errors, or any other kind of bug.

It's a shame about the combat system.... I played gothic 2 through most of the game without putting any points into my melee skills since I wanted to be able to purchase the best spells as a mage when I could. I actually ended up going almost the entire game just using a sword and with the right timing and skill I could defeat pretty much everyone. Apparently that's changed.

I hope Two Worlds turns out better than this game, at least at launch. I played the demo before I sold my gaming rig (going to build a new one soon!) and it was fun, even though it had its bugs.

i just started playing Gothic 3 this morning and i must say i do enjoy it, the combat system is weak but the game is fun. with no tweaks it plays pretty good on my system, but i do get some lag in the forest with my torch out. the only real problem i have is if i set the settings on high i get black boxes around all the characters. if i set it to medium things are great.

I have tried the demo for Gothic 3 on my current computer and it runs pretty good with AV turned off, the combat is a little goofy, so i think i will probably buy this game soon.

Thanks for the input fellows.
