Think you can snip the lid and OC the sh!t out of them?

Well.... now you can't. Apparently the lids are now glued pretty nicely and tight on the processor. I got a few dead ones and I like to collect the lids to pass the time... and I had super hard time taking them off the 5200+ and FX-62 I got... when I managed to pray them off, the die was glued on the processor and tore off the organic packaging.

So if you have a higher-end AM2 proc and you can't figure out why the lid ain't coming - don't bother... because if you do take it off - you'll take the die with you.

yeah, afaik all the ones that are dated c2005 instead of 2001 are soldered on.
