I'm calling 911 right now. Nobody ever gets faulty products from manufacturers. Thank goodness we have had the American auto industry giving us flawless products for the past 30 years. If only they can give us the sweet sweet ram we so desire.
Bubble mailers can get bent during the postal handling process snapping the dimm in the process. I'm blanking on the name, but know there's at least one ram company that explicitly return to sender's any RMAs not in a rigid package because of this.Going with the bubble mailer.

and now I get to spend 1/4 of the price of the ram shipping it back to get a replacement plus the downtime.

I've experienced a high number of DOA G.skill dimms from newegg.
On a recent build, I purchased a 2x4GB kit and only 4GB was detected. I requested the RMA, but instead of waiting, I went ahead and purchased another kit.
Same thing happened, on 4GB detected.
I took the working 4GB from the first pair, and paired it with the working 4GB from the second pair to get 8GB working and sent back two defective dimms.
Maybe it is bad luck, but a 50% failure rate is pretty bad....
