Hey guys, i just got my X1950XT to replace the crappy 7950GT i bought to replace my 7600GT.

I thought many of you might be in the same boat so i thought id give you some benchmark numbers:

3dmark05: 7950GT 512Mb = 9900 X1950XT 256Mb = 11400
3dmark06: 7950GT 512Mb = 4550 X1950XT 256Mb = 5990

This is approx number i cant remember the exact, but they should give you an idea. Also, this is with the exact same system, which is in the sig.

Other stuff:

-Oblivion is MUCH smoother, even with 4xAA + HDR turned on, which you can't even do with the 7950GT. (Im running it at 1680x1050 everything maxed with HDR and 4xAA and it plays comfortably)
-The new splinter cell 4 demo is about 2x faster, literally.
-The fan is much quiter than the one on the 7950GT i had (used reference nvidia fan)

I haven't tested out AVIVO quality or anything like that yet, i just got the card about 6 hours ago and im still playin around with it.

Overall it is an awesome card for the price and honestly even with 256Mb of ram it kicks the crap out of the 7950GT 512mb and im glad i switched to it.

EDIT: BTW its a HIS brand X1950XT

Is this the HIS at 625 or 650 core? I noticed that the 650 had a different cooler. If they release one of these with 512MB of RAM I will buy one.

The HIS X1950XT is clocked at 625Mhz.

The X1950XTX is clocked at 650Mhz, and that one has 512Mb ram and comes with the XTX cooler. However, it is also much more expensive.

Your 7950GT 3DMark06 numbers seem a bit low. I was getting 4700-ish with a 7900GT on an X2 4600+--both components slower than the ones you have but I benchmarked higher. You might want to check to see if everything else on your PC is running correctly.

Congrats on the XT though. These cards really are great value for the money these days.

You sir just convinced me to get the X1950XT this shopping season.

*crosses 7950GT off shopping list*

I would like to see a 1900XT vs 1950XT.

I have a EAX1900 (X1900XT 512mb Crossfire card) and I'm getting ~6700 in 3DMark06, with similar system to OP (E6600 at 3.4 etc etc)

Anyway, thats awesome to hear b/c I was looking at similar nVidia cards before I got this.

Just to jump in,

I also got one of these a week ago, freakin awesome card, let me show you a few things,

I also do Oblivion with 4xAA + HDR @ 1650x1050, outside with lots of grass, texture replacement mod, 30s average fps. Most other things I throw at it fly.

I oc'd it to 675/1900, no worries. Temps get a bit high @ 85C but thats within the range and later I will grab another cooler.

All in all, great 250euro upgrade.

HIS slapped a spiffy cooler on the card and got it to 650MHz. Here is the Newegg product page. It is $317 but that is a nice factory OC.

Thanks for the post. I think you guys convinced me to get a X1950XT instead of a 7950GT :D

What do you guys think about the Sapphire version, since that's the only other one available?

Im in same boat, getting same one from the egg!

Should both be good, but i've never owned a sapphire. Only Powercolor, Gecube and now HIS.

Sapphire preforms well. HIS and other brand just cost more because it clocked 5-20 mhz higher. And bundled more software or use overpriced cooling solution.

Yeah I mean they sell overpriced cooling that isnt very effective as water cooling or even Artic Cooling.

I have a Zalman VF700, so hopefully I can just replace the Sapphire cooler with that.
It'll void the warranty, so go ahead if you don't really care about it.

I don't think they'd notice if I switched it back.

edit: ZZF is selling the non OC'ed HIS X1950XT for $270 after rebate. I wish Newegg had the same rebate or the price...

I picked up the Sapphire X1950XT 256meg from NCIX for $290 canadian, pretty good deal I think. Just using the ATI Overdrive in the CCC I clocked the core to 650 and ram to 925 (1850) and it runs smooth, no artifacts. Occasionally the fan kicks up a bit but most of the time it's quiet. I'm using it for GPU Folding@home but it runs in the "underclocked" 2d mode, which is 500 core, 1200 mem. Not sure how to get it to detect FAH as a 3d app yet.

haha awesome i'm doing the same.....

i use it to game when i'm awake, and fold when i'm asleep :D
