Not long ago I tried to get some input on the NEC 24wmcx and found little. Well I got one and I have to say I've had it about a month and I LOVE IT! If anyone is thinking about getting one I strongly recomend it. I got mine for $480 and it is great for that price. I think If it had been around longer it would be going for the same price as the BenQ 24" that sells for $650. Games look great the colors a rich and bright and text looks great. I also have my Xbox360 on it at 1080p and it looks really nice. It also does the jod for DVDs and HD TV. If you are looking for a great 24 with lots of conections like HDMI, DVI and Component HD give the NEC a try. You will be very pleased.;)

It's a TN panel. If you mean what specific TN panel, I don't know (even TFT Central just says 24" WS TN Film). I have one as well. I'll say this much - it's a lot easier to headshot in Uncharted on a 1080p panel than on a 720p TV. :)

One annoying habit it has is that it'll put 1920x1200 into a 4:3 box at times. I have to either toggle to 1680x1050 and back, or toggle to 1600x1200 and back to get it working again in 1920x1200. This may be an ATI driver/signal issue, though, as it only seems to happen on the VGA input from the gaming PC.

Icestom! You are the only person who knew anything about this display. Its thanks to your info in large part that I got it. So thanks for the good advice. It's just so much better gaming with a sweet 24". My buddy has a 20" and it's nice but after using my 24" I can never use a 20" again! Running games in 1920x1200 is just slammin.

Just picked it up from frys and have had a similar reaction. Coming from an old 18" Sony sdm-81 with a 30ms response time, this thing is amazing. The only problem I have had is a little bit of color banding. Have any of you guys had any problems with that?

Can someone please test the input lag of the monitor? You just need a CRT and a digital camera. The only place I've seen any numerical measure of its input lag is a review on newegg and I just want to be sure about it if I'm going to buy this thing. Or if anyone has seen it documented elsewhere please link...

I have tested this monitor (NEC AccuSync LCD24WMCX) and it has around 30-40ms of input lag vs CRT. Turning off the scaling or running at native resolution doesn't make any noticeable difference.

In case I get rid of this NEC AccuSync LCD24WMCX, I'll go ahead and put together my input lag evidence here. I don't know if KamikazeCow tested wrong or just got a monitor that works better.

Methodology:
1) Hook up LCD24WMCX and Dell E770s (my old 17" CRT) to a single video output, VGA 1280x1024

2) Download the program at http://www.draebenstedt.de/reaction/loopback.html
3) Run program, take photos with digital camera (Canon SD600). I chose to use flash, sacrificing image quality for the quickest shutter speed. You can just barely make out a "424" on the CRT (right side).

Delays in the readable shots I posted (ms):
17
16
51
34
35
33
34
50
50
Average: 36ms
Looks like two samples showed a delay of 1 frame, four showed 2 frames, and three showed 3 frames.

Earlier, I tested (not posted) with two different input lag tests, using different scaling options including native resolution. This was before I had the VGA splitter, so it was using both video card outputs. Those results are, in summary:
3x 0 frames of lag (no real correlation for how to achieve this consistently)
7x 2 frames
8x 3 frames
for an average of 2.1 frames of lag.

In conclusion, I think this monitor is sub-par for gaming and those of us who like the feeling of no input lag. By the way, my manufacture date is December 2007.

Sorry for the confusion, it was 10-30 ms. At the time, i thought the program i was using was counting in ms, but it was cs, and i jumped to conclusions too fast. Wish you could edit newegg reviews... :/ Here is what it looked like

If anyone wants to know, in the end i returned the monitor, since the cpu i had at the time couldn't process video on it. Color banding got on my nerves too much to. At first it was possible to get by with, by after a couple days i couldn't stand it.

Not very impressed with this monitor.

Terrible colour banding, worst I have ever seen
When I first turned it on I thought my gfx card had switched to 16-bit colour

Stupid connector layout, the DVI and HDMI connectors are right above the stand bracket meaning you have to bend each cable 90 degress right below the connector to be able to plug it in. Not good if you have anything other than the standard cheap thin cables but on the other hand not an issue it your mounting on a wall bracket.

Poor picture quality when using HDMI input. The picture looks too soft and blury even using 1:1 aspect ratio and looking closely there is a lot of background noise. Strangest thing is the colours are slightly out of alignment just like when the convergence is out on a CRT (if you have seen a faulty TV or CRT monitor where the colours are seperated slighty that is exactly what it looks like) Never thought i'd see that with lcd technology

Takes ages to come on and change sources.

Makes annoying buzzing and squealing noises at certain backlight brightnesses and when no signal is present.

Menu is awkward to navigate, slow and unresponsive. Also the colour scheme is nasty and it contains too many useless options which just make it overly complex.

One stuck pixel (all 3 subs lit)

The "Expansion" aspect setting affects 720p and 1080p differently. Can be annoying, eg. when using PS3, I have to go into the menu and change aspect when going from the xmb set at 1080p to a game that runs at 720p and vice versa. In 720p it keeps the aspect ratio but maximises the picture horizontally, whilst in 1080p in zooms in on the picture to give about 5% overscan on all sides.

All this and it actually cost me £70 more than the G2400W that I tried prior to getting this one. The G2400W is a far better screen in every way imo ;)

Needless to say i'm sending it back :D

I have this screen for about 10 months.
Since a couple of weeks the "menu" button doesn't work anymore.
When pressing it, you only get the message "Veer OSD" during a few seconds and then nothing else.
This means there is no way anymore to control the monitor (brightness, contrast...), which can be considered quite a heavy problem.
I would appreciate receiving help to solve this problem, otherwise I will be forced to return the monitor for repair, which is a punishment in itself since it means at least 10 days without screen.
I would be particularly interested in knowing if any owner of the screen has experienced the same strange defect and how it has been solved.
Thanks for your attention to this request (I really hope I can avoid the After Sales).
