I just bought my HS94P/s from Best Buy yesterday for $609 U.S. (a open box) and I still got the $100 rebate coming making it $509. Im sure if I waited a month or so, I would of gotten a better price or it would go on sale while the rebate was going on! I had them plug it in at the store to make sure there were no dead pixels cycling through the colors!

-Manufacture Date : 2004-51
-Using DVI connection with ATI 9800xt

As it sits here on my desktop next to my Viewsonic A90f+ (CRT), I can say this...

-THIS MONITOR ROCKS! The clarity and color surpasses my viewsonic by so much! When I look at the viewsonic, it always looks hazy now. I even fiddled with the resolutions to try and get it to look better. Even when I put the Sony in a non native res, it still looks better!

-No dead/stuck pixels!

-I can see reflections when there is a dark background....BUT NO MORE or less than my regular CRT!

-I played BF Vietnam, Day od Defeat, and Call of DutyUnited Offensive on it. I very quick movements (when Im moving) I detect maybe a little difference, but almost not worth mentioning. I gotta say though, the worlds as soooooooooo much more sharp!

-I watched the new special edition release of Heat w/ power DVD. I noticed NO blurring. Matter of fact, it looked much better than my viewsonic.

-I remember someone saying the blacks are not that good on this monitor...once again, sitiing next to my viewsonic, the blacks are much more true the that crt!

-I have to keep all the controls set on low settings, As this bastard is very bright! Whites at night time in a dark room are soo brite, that is probably would hurt some peoples eyes! I did turn up the brightness to medium settings when I played games, as some objects were too dark.

-As for banding...its there, but this moitor does one of the best jobs at diffusing it that I've seen! How I really teted it was opened photoshop cs and used gradient tool from red to whit and black to white on a canvas size of 12x14. It is noticeable, but again, you have to almost focus on it to see it.

-Ghosting...I see NONE.

-The most negative thing I can say, there is a strip of backight at the very top not a cm wide and ~4" long. Very faint, but noticeable if you really look for it on very dark backgrounds. Im sure if I cranked my settings, I could see it on lighter backgrounds. Im an anal fool, but this does not seem to really concern me!

Bad thing...COST...my opinion...you get what you pay for. I was very close to buying a Dell 1905 @ $368 shipped from Dell the other day. But all the negative review and me not being to see one with my own eyes led me to buying this sony.

You ask why didnt I buy the HS95P. Well I thought that puppy looked awesome! But I did not care for the adjustments. The way I sit, I need the monitor to tilt slightly down. The HS95P could not do this without putting a book or something under the arm. Otherwise, I would of got the 95. The specs alone are a little better, and its a newer model! Though I could really see no visual difference in the store.

Im happy that I bought it and would do it again. You say, well of course he likes it, he spent a bisillion dollars on a 19" monitor. Well, if I didnt like it or there was a real problem, I would of taken it back in a second!

turn the backlight down to 10-15 and you wont have any back light, those backlights are fricken bright, i use mine @ 100 for gaming only, 10 for everything else

love the monitor though

only if the brightness is cranked

its too bright for most things anyways, most lcds dont come close to the brightness of the sony so they have any easy time containing the backlight, turn yours down toe 10-15 and it should go away
