Hey All,

I finally recieved my stuff, but no POST. In fact, won't even turn on. When I supply power the fans start up for about 1/2 second and then it shuts off. Can't even get the fans to twitch again without switching the PSU off in the back and then back on.

Gigabyte DS3
E6300 CPU
Stock Cooler
Patriot 5300 4-4-4 RAM 1.8V (one stick for now)
eVGA 7600GT KO
ANTEC 550W PSU

That's all I've got so far.

I put the cpu in, that seemed to go fine. Put one stick of RAM in DDRII1. Put the HSF on the cpu and locked it in place. Attached the HSF power to the mobo. Attached the ATX power to mobo, as well as the additional 12V four-pin connector. I put the video card into the pcie16 slot, and it does not appear to have any additional power connectors.

I attached the speaker to the mobo, and the power switch. Plugged in the power to the back of the PSU, turned the PSU on, and clicked the power button on front.

All of the mounting points on the mobo are screwed into the mounting pegs on the case.

What could I be missing?

Thanks!

could be anything.
try taking cpu out and put it in again and remount hsf.
i had someboards that were fussy about the hsf mounting.not my ds3 though worked fine on first try.

Okay, I'd like to officially nominate myself for the jackass of the year award.

Turns out the PSU ships in the ON position. I kept turning it off and then trying to power the system up.

Yikes!

I'll continue to amuse you with stories of my nub-ness as I progress.

Thanks for replying and trying to help!!

Haha, I wonder how much longer it will take me?

Up and running though! Posting this from the new box, she's purring like a champ through the AVG initial scan.

You are my hero for having the courage to admit that in this forum. :D :p

Yea, I thought about that.

Turns out I have no shame :)

How do you guys feel about CoreTemp reading it at 51-52 C while at about 50% cpu-usage?

That's about right if you've got it overclocked to 3ghz and are running prime95 on one core. If you're at stock then you got problems. My e6400 runs at 2.4ghz and idles at 36, loads to 43°C on stock cooler.
