When I shut down my computer, my mouse's optical is still on, and my ethernet on the back of my motherboard is still going, and flashing at that. How can I fix this problem? I've never seen this before. Is there a setting in the BIOS to help me fix this? I've searched and searched, but to no avail.

Umm two things. Firstly, make sure you have tweaked or touched anything to do with wake-on-lan. Secondly, make sure your computer is truely off :p

It basically sounds like sleep mode. Tryin turning off all wake-on-lan thingies and check that no jumpers or pins have been used the wrong way. Apart from that, just switch it off at the psu or try a full reinstall.

OK, but if nothing in the BIOS fixes this, are you saying reinstall windows? That sucks.

Just unplug it :p

Seriously though, it does sound like it's either not really being turned off, or it's hanging on shutdown, or it's got WOL enabled so it's listening for that magic packet.

WOL is DISABLED, and all that wake on stuff in the BIOS is off, now what could be the issue here?

It could actually be not powering off entirely due to an ACPI problem. What happens if you hold the power button in for 5 seconds after you've shutdown?
