Well would you look at that... Microsoft released a plugin for Firefox that allows you to use Windows 7's native multiformat video decoder for playing HTML5 directly in the browser.

Again, this isn't for IE (any version), this is a plugin for Firefox created by Microsoft that allows for this extended functionality. It's an upgrade to the original Windows Media Player Firefox plugin, basically.

Who woulda thunk it? :D
 
Now to wait for people claiming it is some huge security hole like thatpast MS plugin for FF was.
 
For clarity, this plugin allows for H.264 video decoding. Firefox has supported Ogg Theora video in the video element since 3.1 beta 3. Firefox will also support the WebM format at some point (if it doesn't already).
