Well guys, first post over here in the Photo section...

I just purchased a couple of Fujifilm S700's today. One for myself and one for my pops. I'm upgrading from my almost 5 year old Sony MVC-CD250 (I'm not a hardcore photo taker, yet).

Found a deal through slickdeals and took advantage of it. I got them for $110 each, normally $220! Basically got a 2 for 1 deal! w00t!

So, this seems like a very good camera, though I have a feeling someone is going to tell me otherwise, LOL.

I'm not big into photography, but I am going to learn how to take shots (Anyone got any decent beginners guides to understanding stuff?).

That camera will be just fine to learn basics on. Get out there and start taking shots now.

Congrats on the purchase. My first digital camera was a FujiFilm, and I always liked the images it took, though I don't believe I've ever messed with that particular model.

Anyway, have fun taking pictures.

I have been, but South Bend, IN is very crappy looking right now..

This thing has 2 settings for Macro shots. It's sick!! I'm loving it

Ah, you need to start modifying your perspective. An easy way to do this is simply browse some of the groups or individuals at Flickr and the like. Trust me, you will get inspiration on subject matter, framing, and just about everything else.

I'm not the "creative" thinker type...seriously...I can't figure out what to do research papers on half the time, I have to have someone help give me ideas, it sucks.

Well start gearing your mind to work like your view finder. Best thing is to always have your camera handy, you will be surprised how many shots you will miss out on, if you dont have it.
