right now i'm running a A64 3200+ venice core at stock everything.

looking to buy a new hsf for it so i can start overclocking this sucka!

Stock AMD heatpipe heatsink
ac arctic cooler 64 pro
xp-90c

Scythe Ninja?

Out of those I'd probably go with the arctic cooler.

will the ninja fit in my system?

asus a8n-e
lian li pc60 original

check overclockers.com hs/f ratings. the xp90 with a decent fan outperforms the xp120, si 120(120si?) and all those silly looking tower things, for less money.

AMD Heatpipe gets my vote. XP-90 is nothing much really - heatpipes should do a better job with lower noise levels. The only heatpipes I have experience with are the stock cooler (a lot of 4400+ AMD builds!) and the crazy-big Zalman job. I have an Aerocool lying around, but that's for my bro's PC when the weather turns warmer.

The Zalman is silent and über-efficient, but it's not exactly cheap. The stock AMD cooler does a better job of keeping MB components cool (SI-120 is king here hands down) and is enough for some mild overclocking on X2 chips - single cores will fare better.

Some sites did a comparaison between XP-90 and heatpipe AMD cooler and the latter won for the best bang for the buck / efficiency.

The only good choices is :

Stock AMD heatpipe heatsink
ac arctic cooler 64 pro

or consider the Ninja if you want to spend some money.

jab-tech still has the Scythe Ninja for $34.95. that makes it pretty much as well priced as a lot of other similar performing options. they'll add a Yate Loon fan for $4.00 more. i say that makes it just about no contest. i jumped on this myself last week. best price i've seen on the Ninja so far!

i just realised that this had nothing to do with your original 3 choices.. sorry about that.

Damn man a stock copper heatpipe heatsink is plenty for a 3200 venice at stock speeds. Save your money man. I run an opteron oc'd to 2.7ghz. And my temps with the stock heatpipe sink are 32-34C idle and 42-44C load. A 3200 venice even creates less heat than that. Get a $15-$20 stock cooler and be done. They are a breeze to install as well.

i'll be over clocking my venice as i stated in my first post.

i'm looking for a cooler that is pretty easy to install, as in it uses mostly the stock mounting hardware and i can keep the mobo in the case

Oh I guess I shoulda read your whole post. I thought you said you were keeping it at stock. Ive had a 3200 venice oc'd to 2.6ghz with the same amd stock heatpipe sink. My temps were still 34C idle and 44C load. I still vote for that. I can only recommend $30-$40 heatsinks for people with dual-cores who are ocing. Past that, the amd stock copper heatpipe heatsink is great for anything single core.

Get the 64 pro. Out of all the heatsinks i used (and i used quite a few), this one is the quietest and does just as well.Plus its less stress on the motherboard. I own seveeral zalmans both the 120 mm fan version and the 92mm fan and darn things are heavy. The 64 pro is really really easy to install (you dont even have to take your motherboard out to do it).

Did i mention that its damn quiet. Well it is.
