Google would like the ability to store your web history for a new feature. You have to wonder how many people would partake in something like this.

"Imagine being able to search over the full text of pages you've visited online and finding that one particular quote you remember reading somewhere months ago. Imagine always knowing exactly where you saw something online, like that priceless YouTube video of your friend attempting to perform dance moves from a bygone age,"

Although the idea in theory sounds great, I don't believe I know one person who would be up for the idea of having their entire net usage tracked and stored.

So are they going to start arresting people now for searching for things like "thermonuclear devices" , "communism" ,or "satanic orgies?" In that case I better move to Mexico!

Gotta love the excuse that they give, imagine being able to search over the full text of... please. Translation, we need to know every page you go to so we can send you the best ad's that suit you so we can maximize our profits.

I would only add divorce lawyers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, et al to the list as well.

Nice to see healthy skepticism is alive here. :)

If the information could be kept private, it's an incredibly useful feature. Bookmarking is a terrible way of digging up pages you've visited. I have thousands of bookmarks that either can't be found again, never had good names, or were lost somehow by firefox.

Google says they want to use the info for advertising...hmmm... as if we don't ready see enough of that stuff while browsing the net.
