As unbelievable as it may sound, Google’s stock just hit the $700 mark, less than thirty days after hitting the $600 mark.

The latest surge came after Google confirmed plans to become a bigger force in the Internet's social networking scene and amid reports that the company is about to unveil a long-rumored operating system designed for mobile phones so it can make more money by distributing ads to people on the go.

Call me a nervous nell but doesn't this scare anyone else? I mean, if the ad market tanks tomorrow.... Yeah Google has "other stuff" going but most of its revenue is ads.

Pretty soon Google's going to find itself its own planet and take over the known universe. I mean the Googleverse.

As a minor shareholder of google, this news is only making me feel better that I did. I bought them when they were just a bit shy of 110$ per share.

Lets not forget though that it broke $700 on the news that Verizon Wireless is in "advanced talks" with Google about carrying a cell phone powered by Google's software.

They could split a few times and still be worth more per share than most out there, lol.

Would this be news if it was a $60 stock that went to $70?

Real thoughtful, like the [H] has its own stock ticker and lists every stock there is. Right. It's news because it's Google and it was just $600. Now it's $700. No, it wouldn't be news if it went from $60 to $70. That's a lot easier to achieve.

...if google was to split 10 times, it would be exactly the same. You should read some value stock investing book. Seriously. Google's P/E is P/E (ttm): 55.31. If google split 10 times, it would be *exactly the same*. P/E is price to earnings.

I worry about the stock as it looks inflated like a bubble. Bubbles can burst fast.:(

Course I will still rub this in my fathers face. I told him back when google first went public to buy but he claimed it would sink like and rock and get delisted in a week. So much for that.:D

10% is 10%. Now if you're arguing that at $60.00, there are bunch of idiots that think, "it's only 10 buck and it's google," then you may be correct, but there's no difference.

Valuation should be based on fundementals, not on the price. With that said, if they split, we'll likely see a bunch of idiots and speculators drive the price back up (ala 1999).

We'll see where google goes, but it's valuation is too high...especially when you figure the only thing they seem to do well is search/ads. have they made anything from any of the other businesses they've gone into. I can't think of any.

I own 1 share. Cost me $448.
I also own some Nvidia, Activision and VMware

its news relating to a tech company. didn't you get the memo? also your TPS reports are lacking lately. do we need to have a talk again? i'm gonna go ahead and have you come in on saturday. ok? thhhhanks.

This is great news considering I have a good of amount of vested interest in their success, however, the news that should be more alarming is that Baidu (BIDU), since June 1st has gone up 172.5% due to their massive Chinese market. Over that same period Google has gone up a comparatively meager 41.99%. Both are impressive, but I would say the kind of gains Baidu has seen would be more newsworthy as far as the search advertising market goes.

And yes, there is a bit of a bubble, but saying that online advertising is very effective nonetheless. The problem is just the seeming over-valuation of related stocks. While Google may seem to only produce revenue from ads, the ways in which they deliver ads are diversifying, and that is why you are seeing their stock prices sky rocket. I would also expect to see them start to push into more and more markets. And not all of them are as ad-centric as you might think. Somethings are just collecting data to make advertising work better, and that is very worthwhile. I would be very surprised if you see a decrease in Google stock over the short term, but this growth rate isn't sustainable either.

The 25 point interest rate drop by the FED surely had something to do with this.

I can tell you that I would definitely cash out about now. This bubble can't go on forever, I'm sure it would see some droppage if google decides to scrap the phone deal or if the phone deal isn't as hot as they once thought.
