why the hell would they do that? Alot of search engines use google. I know yahoo used...but i think that ended. I'm sure someone will help me out and chim in with others.

Google's THE search engine for me.

I use google, but I know some people prefer alltheweb.com. I am certainly keeping my eye on them.

Depends what you are looking for. When I had my humanities courses, I would use http://vos.ucsb.edu/ for researching.

For some pictures, I use http://www.picturesofplaces.com/

I have been known to lurk around http://www.nationalgeographic.com/resources/ngo/maps/

There are... alternatives?

If I can't find it on google- ie looking up some obscure artist or musician for a relative- then I'll usually wander between yahoo, hotbot and raging.

Raging used to be my favourite, back like late 99... but it caught a case of the fruities about the same time google started up strong.. I found google by searching on raging for search engines

i called them and asked them about it and they said "we didn't block google, google blocked us."
