Just a goofy idea hear, bear with me.

What if we had a "smack down trophy" (or some other name) that was used for internal team callouts. The trophy must be something really special, more on this later.

Basically one person would have the trophy and at anytime anyone could call them out for some good old smack talk action <insert something more logical here> and challenge the reigning champion for the trophy. Races would be shorter, 2 weeks to a month at most. Most points on the board within time frame wins. No callouts during the race ect.

Brackets: I would think we would need some type of tiers in this, maybe 5 trophies with brackets in the 500-1000 PPD, 1000-1500PPD, 1500-2000 PPD and so on (PPD at time of callout). You can always call out someone with more PPD day than you, but PPD needs to be within 10% to call out someone with less PPD than you. Or make the brackets larger, 1000-2000 PPD for example, I dunno.

Trophy: Must be truly worthy of posting with pride. First two drafts need to be 3 steps beyond what Moose would approve, with the final one being one step beyond what Moose would approve. BillR must always disapprove of the trophy. ;)

Thoughts? The outline here is just some early morning ramblings, add/change at will. Kinda an ongoing thing which people need to defend and challange for.

Just a self love idea: A Mary trophy with two women smacking each other in a cat fight pose. :p

I would think you should only be able to call out someone that's outproducing you.

 
How about the trophy being a t-shirt which you pass around, hopefully laundered/decontaminated before passing it along. :D

 
Wouldn't it be better to have the trophy, virtual.
I mean, I wouldn't want to get K* cooties or something! :eek:

So we could get KingN to alter the sig code/image/whatever for the winner of the trophy and it would show in all of the winners posts. Then if he lost it, it would pass into somebody else's sig.

That way, everybody that reads the threads would know who has it.

Just a thought.....

Odds are doubtfull I'd ever get it. :(

I like the idea. I say that we have some of the members here submit some chops of trophys that can be used and then we will have a poll to pick a few winners and assign each trophy to a tier.
 
What happens the current trophy-holder in a bracket ramps up and moves into a higher bracket? Who gets the lower-bracket trophy then?

Ok, p[H] and I have discussed this and here is what we have come up with....ideas welcomed.

5 tiers seems to be the prefered route. Values can be set later.

Anyone within the tier can challange the trophy holder. PPD be damned. If you have the trophy and you want to keep it, you better ramp up. End of story.

Gauntlets can be called at anytime, except if one is currently running within your tier.

Gauntlets can be anywhere from 5-10 days....the person making the callout gets to decide.

You cannot turn a gauntlet down...if you have the trophy, you are fair game to anyone in the tier at anytime.

If there is no action in a specific tier for 6 weeks, the trophy will be reset and a battle-royal with be setup. All members in the tier will battle for 5 days and a winner will be chosen from total points output for the time period. Same goes if the trophy holder moves into another tier, be it higher or lower.

How's that sound? :)
 
The " Moose Balls " trophy should be the top tier. (#1)

The K* trophy will be for the rest.

Who starts with the trophys?

Top end producers (>5kPPD), can these be included? Not many of them, the overall spread gets huge (8K/10K/12K) ect.
 
I pester the hell out of Moose anyhow. K*'s not around to do it, so someone has to step up to the plate. ;)

How about 0-750ppd
750-1500
2250-3000
3k-4k
4k-5k

Initially start with a battle royal to determine the first time holders. :D

reason being, there are alot in the 0-500 range and alot in the 500-1k range... a little less in the 1k-1.5k... alot less in the 1.5k-3k range... and very few above 3k.....

Ok, gross yourself out twice and we'll call it even.

First time holders- maybe mage for winning the hard DC'r deal last time

just take a screen shot of the DC forum, last posters listed in each thread, where they fit in to the tiers starts with it

i right a 2k ppd and 3k is 1k away which is a big gap

Quoted myself, gives you about a 1 to 3 cpu range for each tier. Just once you hit the upper level it gets harder.

Upper lvl is suppose to be [H]ard

looks like my 8 day average ppd is 2241.75 :)

Looks like you're missing point ranges from 1500-2250 there, unless I'm an idiot or something.

I have 5 CPUs (6 if you count HT), and I'm producing ~550-600 ppd... they're not crappers by any stretch, but they're not X2s either....

K, I'll try this again since I'm mathematically impaired today:

0-750
750-1500
1500-2250
2250-3000
3k-and up

Thats about the best I can come up with, so say 3 to 5 cpu's per range, less if you're running big WU's and -advmethods.

It seems that the vast majority of players would probably be in the 3k and under range best I can tell.

Wow. I see that lowest-tier trophy changing hands REAL often. The lower tiers have the greatest number of people, but in that <400ppd range, you're going to see fairly large swings in an individual's ppd average, even over two weeks. Above 500ppd or so, people's ppd average seems to stay fairly steady. The other problem with only having 2-week gauntlets is that any borging would only be effective for the first week or 1.5 weeks. Borgs after that would not have the same opportunity to boost scores.

Don't get me wrong--I think this is a good idea. There are some definite challenges that need to be hashed out before we start, though.
