Moving from my iPhone to the Galaxy Note II in a couple days and looking for an alternative to Siri. Mainly I'm looking for good voice control over music and if possible calls, I don't use social networking and rarely send SMS or Email or such in the car, but I have a lot of music that's not in English (mostly Japanese but a couple Italian and Spanish songs too)

While Free is best, I'm willing to pay upto ~$10 for one if I have to...

So, suggestions?

Vlingo has an app in beta that's the basis for Samsung's SVoice, their Siri competitor on the Galaxy S3. OR, you can install a custom ROM on your GS2 that's based on 4.1, which comes with Google Now. Your call.

The note 2 should have jellybean, and therefore Google now, should suit your needs....

Thanks, I hope to have the phone by friday and I'll report back if it doesnt work for what I need.

ugh, should have read your whole post... stupid cold. Yeah, your Note will have everything all set already. SVoice and google now.

I have a question from you, which one is best iphone or s2????

Tested it today and it works great on all my English music (but it REALLY trips up on Japanese, could not get a single track to play is there some kind of "audio language pack" I can add so it understands English _and_ Japanese?)

I got the NOTE 2, not the S2, but really it depends. Media the iPhone is better, raw data crunching Android is better (though the benchmark tests show the iPhone5 actually beats the Note2 in all categories, for waht it's worth) If there was any hope for a Jailbreak soon, I'd be sticking with my iPhone, since there's not, I'm going back to android (though I admit I love the larger Screen and S-pen of the Note2).

yes, Google now has offline language packs. Go to settings, voice, and download offline speech recognition.
